Banking Systems and Operations in Pakistan

Course Hours Target Audience Course Description Lectures: 30 hrs Activities: 12 Guest Speakers: 02 Study Tour: 01 This course is intended for Banking, Commerce, Economics & Finance learners. In this course, participants will learn about the banking system, the role of State Bank of Pakistan and role of banks in economic development. In addition, they will learn about retail banking, the variety of retail banking services and products offered. Finally, participants will acquire the basic skills needed to perform a variety of banking operations. We believe on activity based learning, participants will be provided a platform for group activities, group discussion and implementing the theory. Discuss the banking system and its role in economic development. List the different banking operations. Describe retail banking operations. Module 1: Introduction to Banking System The role of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The banking system of Pakistan. The relationship between Fiscal and Monetary Policies. Different types of banks and their roles in Pakistan. Module 2: Banking Operations Types of Accounts. Deposit boxes. Foreign Exchange Operations in Pakistan. Module 3: Retail Banking Operations Retail banking. Retail banking products. Consumer loans. Electronic banking operations. Participants will be assessed by the end of the course by exam/assignment. By the end of course, participants will be visiting the State Bank of Pakistan. Rs. 12,000 which includes course material and study tour cost. For Isra Students: Rs. 9,000 which includes course material & tour cost. 16th June 23rd July 2011. The Classes will be held on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Timing will be flexible.
