Passages100 points For each passage below Identify the title of the story State the main point of the passage (think about the context in which the passage appears: Who is speaking? (is it a character? Is the author speaking directly to us?) Is the passage a key point in the plot of the story? Does the passage illustrate conflict? Theme? Epiphany? Resolution of the conflict? Does it help us understand the protagonist? Explain how the passage is important to the work as a whole.

Essay on Ethical Approaches100 points

After reading We Are Not In This Together, write an essay analyzing the character and motives of Halverson and Darby. In your essay, respond to these questions: a) Which social and environmental factors influence their decisions? How so?

b)

Which ethical approaches shed light on their thoughts and behaviors? Which do not? When conflicting approaches apply, be sure to argue which approach best accounts for the characters motives and use evidence from the text to support your argument.

*You may bring a copy of the story to the exam, but you will need to show it to me before you take the test. You may bring the ethical approaches sheet and make some notes about the essay on the back, but you will need to show it to me and turn it in along with your essay.
