    The Wheatstone bridge is a circuit used to measure unknown electrical resistance values. It contains four resistors (P, Q, R, S) arranged such that when the bridge is balanced, as indicated by no galvanometer deflection, the ratio of the two resistances on one side equals the ratio of the two resistances on the other side. When balanced, the bridge circuit can be used to calculate the value of the unknown fourth resistor if three are known. Variations of the Wheatstone bridge can also measure inductance, capacitance, and impedance.
