In nursing ecologic model there are four types of model that can be used, the lever, triangle, web,

and the wheel model. The lever model is used to show the relationship between the host, agent and theenvironment and to determine if there is an imbalance between the three (3) predisposing factorsthat may lead to an occurrence of disease. The triangle model is used when emphasizing the relationship of the disease to the host, the agent, and environmental factors. It works with both infectious and non-infectious disease. The web model is used with diseases with many cofactors. It works with complex disease etiologies. The wheel model is used to illustratehow disease may occur through the interplay of several causal factors without any being necessary in itself. The disease factors in singular or plural are required for disease occurrence.
