Composition of water

Made up of hydrogen and oxygen elements Each water molecule has two hydrogen atoms bound to one oxygen atom

The composition of water can be determined from the electrolysis of water. When electric current passes through water during electrolysis, a molecule of water is broken down into its elements (hydrogen and oxygen)

Electrolysis
The volume of oxygen released at the cathode is two times more than volume of oxygen release at the anode. Water is made up of two volume of oxygen and one volume of oxygen.
