Val di Non, 6 gennaio

Correre sulla neve

Le racchette da neve sono divenute ormai tanto conosciute che anche il termine originario ciaspole non pi solo una parola dialettale della Val di Non ma entrato nelluso della lingua italiana. Le ciaspole infatti non sono una tradizione esclusiva degli scandinavi, tanto che da secoli in questo angolo di Trentino vengono utilizzate da cacciatori e contadini. Provate ad immaginare cosa significhi correre in mezzo alla neve con le racchette ai piedi: qui in Val di Non, da 38 anni ormai, si tiene la Ciaspolada, la pi importante corsa del mondo di questo genere cui partecipano atleti che si dedicano alle maratone e alle gare di fondo, ma anche semplici appassionati e corridori della domenica. Come sempre lappuntamento per il giorno della Befana, il 6 gennaio: fino a 7000 concorrenti da tutto il mondo cercheranno la vittoria sui 7 km del percorso che parte da Romeno e arriva a Fondo. The word ciaspole, the original term for snowshoes in the Val di Non dialect, has become so well-known it is now used in the Italian language. As snowshoes are not exclusive of the Scandinavian tradition, here in Trentino hunters and farmers have been wearing them for centuries in winter time. Try to figure what running in the snow means: in Val di Non, 38 years from now, there is the Ciaspolada, the most important snowshoeing race in the world. Partecipants are athletes who use to run marathons and cross country races but even amateurs amateurs. In alta Val di Non

Una lunga nutrita schiera di sportivi puntegger i campi innevati dellaltipiano tra i sentieri e saliscendi del percorso. Gli stessi che dal giorno seguente verranno battuti da chi cerca un rapporto intimo ed esclusivo con la natura: non stiamo parlando di alta montagna ma della natura autentica, di boschi e altipiani, di frutteti questo il regno della mela - e di laghetti gelati, lungo le tracce lasciate dagli animali selvatici in questa valle dove sembra che il tempo si sia fermato. Uno degli itinerari pi caratteristici quello che porta al santuario di San Romedio, arroccato al centro di uno dei canyon che caratterizzano questi posti: attraverso un sentiero nel bosco si arriva a questa vertiginosa e mistica piramide di chiesette sovrapposte, collegate da una ripida scala di 131 gradini. From the next day in, the same tracks will be runned and walked by people seeking just an intimate and exclusive feeling with nature: in Val di Non we are not talking about high peaks to be climbed but were looking for nature, forests and plains, orchards - this is the kingdom of apple - iced lakes and wildlife tracks, along this valley where time seems to be stopped. One of the classic route is the one leading to Saint Romedios shrine, perched on one of the typical canyons in this area: going through a forest path, people come to this breathtaking and mystical sort of natural pyramid where several chapels have been made one above the other , linked by a steep 131 steps staircase.

Val di Fiemme, 8-9 gennaio
Un antipasto iridato
I Campionati Mondiali di sci nordico del 2013 sembrano ancora lontani, ma in Val di Fiemme la macchina organizzativa al lavoro da tempo. Tutto dovr essere perfetto, in modo da eguagliare il successo ottenuto nel 1991 e nel 2003. Nellattesa questo angolo di Trentino si prepara alla due giorni dedicata al Tour de Ski, la prestigiosa manifestazione seconda per importanza soltanto alle Olimpiadi e alla rassegna iridata. La prima gara in programma quella di sabato 8 gennaio con la spettacolare mass start in tecnica classica di 20 km e 10 km, maschile e femminile, nello stadio iridato di Lago di Tesero. Domenica 9 gennaio verr riproposta la mitica final climb, lattacco alla salita dellAlpe del Cermis, e la novit consiste nel fatto che uomini e donne gareggeranno entrambi sulla distanza dei 9 chilometri.
The 2013 World Championships of Nordic Skiing still seem far away, but in Val di Fiemme the wheels of organisation have been turning for some time. Everything will have to be perfect to achieve the same success as in 1991 and in 2003. In the meantime this valley of Trentino is preparing two days dedicated to the Tour de Ski, the important event second only to the Olympics and the World Championships. The first race is scheduled for Saturday 8 January with the spectacular mass start for the classic technique of 20 km and 10 km, men and women, in the Lago di Tesero stadium. On Sunday 9 January the fabulous final climb on the Alpe del Cermis, in which, for the first time, both men and women will compete over a distance of 9 kilometres.

In Val di Fiemme
Ovviamente tutta la Val di Fiemme non ha perso loccasione per trasformare questa gara in una festa. Lhappening sulla pista comincia gi di primo mattino: lo scorso anno si sono contati oltre 20.000 spettatori assiepati con i piedi nella neve ad attendere il passaggio degli atleti. Sulla salita del Cermis i tifosi trovano le Poste del Tour del Gusto, una serie di stand che propongono una degustazione di prodotti enogastronomici del Trentino per dare loro ristoro. Polenta, speck, dolci, vin brul e ogni genere di leccornia adatta a riscaldare i cuori e i muscoli dei presenti. Sono previste numerose soste per gli assaggi lungo la pista. Sabato invece si corre al Lago di Tesero laffascinante mass start, penultima tappa del Tour de Ski. Tanti gli intrattenimenti per il pubblico, Fiemme Arena per i pi piccoli, intrattenimenti musicali con Fiemme Folk e Fiemme Rock e sabato pomeriggio dopo le gare spazio al South Nordic Festival in centro a Cavalese.
The whole Val di Fiemme has not lost the chance to turn this race into a great happening. The party on the track starts early in the morning: on last year, there was a crowd of over 20,000 spectators, standing into the snow to await the athletes passing. On the Cermis slope, fans use to find the location of Tour del Gusto (Tour of Taste), a series of stands and tents offering local foods and wines. Polenta, speck, mulled wine and every sort of cakes in order to warm hearts and muscles of standing people. These several stops for snacks are provided along all the track. On Saturday the exciting mass start, the last but one leg of the Tour de Ski, will be held at Lago di Tesero. A lot of fringe events for the public, Fiemme Arena for infants, music played by Fiemme Folk and Fiemme Rock and, after the races on Saturday afternoon, the South Nordic Festival in the centre of Cavalese.

Il regno rosso
Wrooom una settimana che Madonna di Campiglio, la localit pi esclusiva del Trentino, dedica ormai da 23 anni a Ferrari e a Ducati. Le due scuderie pi rappresentative di Formula1 e MotoGp sono infatti solite presentare nella cornice delle montagne del Brenta i programmi della prossima stagione alla stampa internazionale e ai propri tifosi in occasione di Ducati and Ferrari Press Ski Meeting. In pole position ci sar il nove volte campione del mondo Valentino Rossi, che nella stagione 2011 correr in sella alla Ducati, e Fernando Alonso, ormai di casa a Madonna di Campiglio. Levento previsto dal 10 al 15 gennaio. Piloti e massimi dirigenti si concedono una settimana bianca sciando in mezzo ai turisti. Numerose sono le iniziative collaterali previste per quei giorni: la spettacolare esibizione sul laghetto di Campiglio che di anno in anno propone le pi originali sfide tra i piloti di Ferrari e Ducati, cos come le numerose sessioni di autografi e di incontri con i tifosi. Lamore di Campiglio per i motori non si limita solo alla settimana dedicata a Ferrari e Ducati. La pista di kart sul laghetto ghiacciato di Campiglio permanente e le gare in notturna tra amici sono un must per tutto linverno fino a quando le temperature sono abbastanza basse per consentirlo. Inoltre il weekend seguente a Wrooom ed esattamente dal 20 al 23 gennaio prevista la 23 edizione della Winter Marathon, la celebre gara di regolarit per auto depoca che offre le strade e i panorami del Brenta a vetture sportive che sono vere e proprie opere darte. La pratica dellice climbing, cio lo scalare cascate ghiacciate con ramponi ai piedi e piccozze alle mani, uno degli sport in maggiore ascesa nel panorama delloutdoor invernale e la Val Daone ne una delle capitali riconosciute. LIce Master World Cup, che si terr nelle giornate di sabato 15 e domenica 16 gennaio, unanimemente considerata lappuntamento internazionale pi importante del mondo. Giunta ormai alla 10 edizione, la seconda di sette prove di Coppa del Mondo della disciplina: i migliori specialisti si confronteranno su due differenti competizioni, quella di difficolt, in cui gli atleti dovranno completare la parete artificiale sfidando il freddo e la forza di gravit, e quella di velocit, con una corsa in parallelo su due vie uguali alle due estremit della struttura. Ice Climbing - rising frozen waterfalls with crampons at your feet and ice axes in your hands - is one of the fastest growing sports in the winter outdoor. Val Daone is well-known as one of the capitals of this trendy sport. The Ice Master World Cup, which will be held here in January on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th, is unanimously considered the most important international meeting of the world. Entering in his tenth year, this event is the second of seven stages of the International Federation World Cup. The best specialists in the world will compete in two different races: in the lead one, athletes must reach the top of an artificial wall, despite of low temperature, gravity and great difficulties to hold; in the speed race, two athletes will climb one to one as quick as possible a two-way wall. Ice Master World Cup

Valle di Daone, 15-16 gennaio

In Valle di Daone
100% natura: le Valli Giudicarie sono nel Trentino Occidentale sul fiume Chiese, in parte allinterno del Parco Naturale dellAdamello Brenta. Non un caso che lIce Master si svolga proprio qui, dato che la natura ha regalato alla Val Daone oltre 130 cascate che dinverno ghiacciano diventando palestre di arrampicata. La Regina del Lago e la Gran Scozzese sono forse le due pi frequentate. Non solo quindi la parete artificiale della gara ma anche vere cascate patrimonio naturale della valle che nei giorni dellevento diventano anche la sede del meeting Pareti di Cristallo, uno stage a cielo aperto per appassionati di tutti i livelli. La passione di questa gente permette anche lorganizzazione dello Speed Rock, altra gara estiva di arrampicata sulla diga Enel di Bissina attrezzata per il climbing. 100% nature: the Giudicarie Valleys are in Western Trentino on Chiese River and partly within the Natural Park of Adamello Brenta. It is no coincidence that Ice Master is taking place right here, as Mother Nature gave Val Daone over 130 waterfalls that become a sort of climbing walls during the winter. The Queen of the Lake and the Great Scots are perhaps the two most popular cascades. So here we have not just the artificial wall of the Ice Master event but also real waterfalls, the main natural heritage of the valley. During the days of the event, they are the site of Pareti di Cristallo, an outdoor ice-climbing stage for all the fans of any level. La festa dello sci nordico

Il successo della Marcialonga, di gran lunga la gara di sci da fondo pi importante che si tenga in Italia, cresce anche questanno. Le iscrizioni per questa 38 edizione, in programma domenica 30 gennaio, sono state chiuse con grande anticipo per raggiunto limite a quota 6000. Il percorso di 70 km, da coprire solo ed esclusivamente in tecnica classica, fa entrare di diritto la gara tra le pi dure del mondo: la maggioranza dei concorrenti arriver dai paesi scandinavi, in particolare dalla Norvegia, per un weekend di vera festa dello sci nordico. I momenti pi eccitanti? La partenza di massa e il tributo riservato ai senatori , i vecchi che hanno partecipato a tutte le edizioni. E il pomeriggio che precede la gara, la Minimarcialonga di 3 km rende partecipi della grande festa anche i ragazzini tra i 6 e i 12 anni. The Marcialonga success, by far the most important cross country ski race in Italy, is getting bigger and bigger every year. The subscriptions for this 38th edition, scheduled for January 30th, has been shut down after few days as the limit number of 6000 athletes was reached very early. The 70 km track has to be covered just in classical technique, and thats what makes Marcialonga one of the toughest race in the world: the most part of competitors come from the Scandinavian countries, in particular Norway, for a weekend long festival of Nordic skiing. Nelle Valli di Fiemme e Fassa

Il tracciato storico della Marcialonga prevede la partenza nella piana di Moena. Da l si risale tutta la Val di Fassa percorrendo a ritroso il fiume Avisio, con il massiccio del Sella davanti agli occhi, fino a Canazei, dove si inverte la marcia tornando sullaltra sponda del fiume: la folla interminabile di tifosi non smette un attimo di incitare i concorrenti e d una mano anche ai numerosi ristori. La discesa fino a Cavalese molto dolce: prima si incontra Campitello, poi Pera e Pozza di Fassa, Moena, Predazzo e si attraversa tutta la Val di Fiemme fino a che una decisa salita nei pressi di Cavalese porter con un ultimo sforzo gli atleti allarrivo. Una grande fatica addolcita, strada facendo, dalla bellezza dei panorami che i partecipanti incontreranno e dal ricordo che ne porteranno nel cuore. Since the first edition, the Marcialongas starting line has been situated in the Moenas plain. The cross country ski race goes uphill through all the Fassa valley, along the Avisio river. The athletes have the chance to watch the Sella Group up to Canazei where they need to reverse the way across the river and going back to south: the endless crowd of fans keeps encouraging competitors and stand in the snow to help skiers in many food stops. The descent to Cavalese is very sweet: you meet Campitello first, Pera and Pozza di Fassa, Moena and, later, Predazzo. After having crossed all the Val di Fiemme, the athletes will face on a last, long, hard climb to Cavalese, before the race finish line. A great effort for the athletes, softened along the way just by those beautiful landscapes they will remember for all the life long.

Topolino
Folgaria, 18-19 marzo

Piccoli campioni crescono

Ogni anno il Trofeo Topolino sempre molto atteso dai baby campioni di sci di tutta Europa: ragazzi e ragazze tra i sette e i quattordici anni, infatti, durante questa manifestazione hanno loccasione di gareggiare tra loro, sognando di ritrovarsi in futuro nelle competizioni pi importanti. I grandi nomi dello sci sono tutti passati da qui, da Marc Girardelli a Benni Raich. Le gare di sci alpino, giunte alla 50 edizione (slalom, gigante e la cosiddetta combirace) saranno ospitate dalle piste di Folgaria nelle giornate del 18 e del 19 marzo. Nellattesa, il 22 ed il 23 gennaio sar invece la Val di Fiemme ad ospitare il Trofeo Topolino rivolto ai campioni in erba dello sci di fondo. Young ski champions from all over Europe always look forward to the Trofeo Topolino every year: boys and girls aged between seven and fourteen years, in fact, during this event have the opportunity to compete each other, dreaming of their future important competitions. Lot of ski stars were born by this trophy, from Marc Girardelli to Benni Raich. In this 50th edition, alpine ski races (slalom, giant slalom and so-called combirace) will be hosted by the Folgarias slopes, from March 18th to 19th. On January 22nd and 23th, instead, Val di Fiemme will be the background to the Trofeo Topolino of cross-country skiing.

In Folgaria
Larea degli Altipiani di Folgaria, Lavarone e Luserna, un territorio dolce che alterna ripidi versanti alpini a dolci pascoli e morbidi pendii coperti di fitte foreste di abeti, ideale per muoversi a piedi, in mountain bike o praticando il nordic walking. Perfettamente inserito in questa cornice di verde il Lago di Lavarone, piccolo bacino dalle acque pulitissime dove agli inizi del 900 trascorse anche alcuni periodi di riposo Sigmund Freud, il padre della psicoanalisi. Sentieri, ex strade militari e viabilit forestale sono lideale per semplici e riposanti passeggiate, per escursioni alpine di maggior impegno, per trekking tematici ispirati alla storia secolare delle genti che abitano questi luoghi, per itinerari a lunga percorrenza come il Sentiero Europeo E5 e il Sentiero della Pace e per uscite sui percorsi attrezzati del Nordic Walking Park. The pleasant area of the Altipiani di Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna features steep mountainsides, gentle pasturelands and dense pine-wooded slopes, ideal for walking, mountain biking and Nordic walking. Perfectly situated in this green setting is the small Lavarone lake with crystal clear water, where Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, spent some periods of rest in the early 1900s. Paths, former military roads and forest tracks are ideal for easy and relaxing walks, more challenging mountain excursions, theme trekking inspired by the centuries-old history of the people living in these places, long distance itineraries, like the E5 European Path and the Path of Peace, and for outings on the routes prepared in the Nordic Walking Park.

Pedalare sulle Dolomiti

La 35 edizione del Giro del Trentino, recentemente inserito dallUnione Ciclistica Internazionale nel calendario 2.HC (classificazione che garantisce alla manifestazione la presenza dei migliori team al mondo), si appresta ad offrire ad un pubblico numeroso le bellezze della nostra terra, con paesaggi da cartolina e scorci suggestivi. Dopo la cronometro inaugurale di marted 19 aprile lungo il litorale del Garda Trentino, la corsa raggiunger il giorno seguente Bezzecca, in Val di Ledro (sede della celebre battaglia vinta da Garibaldi contro gli austriaci per la difesa dellUnit dItalia), mentre la terza frazione si concluder a Fai della Paganella, proponendo il primo importante arrivo in quota. Gran finale, venerd 22, sul traguardo della quarta e ultima tappa a Madonna di Campiglio, perla delle Dolomiti, dove verr incoronato il successore di Alexandre Vinokourov, vincitore del Giro del Trentino 2010. Lungo le ciclabili
Sono oltre 400 i chilometri di piste ciclabili presenti in Trentino. In ogni valle possibile trovare un percorso adatto ad ogni esigenza: nella maggior parte dei casi si tratta di itinerari pianeggianti che corrono nel fondovalle, immersi nella natura, attraverso i boschi o a ridosso dei corsi dei fiumi e dei torrenti. Nel 2007 le ciclabili trentine sono state individuate dallallora Ministro per i Beni e le Attivit Culturali Francesco Rutelli come il modello al quale dovrebbero ispirarsi le altre regioni: anche le istituzioni nazionali, quindi, considerano il livello deccellenza raggiunto dalla provincia, per alcuni aspetti superiore a quello dei paesi europei pi evoluti. Fra il Trentino e le due ruote c un rapporto molto stretto, confermato anche dal fatto che questo territorio ha dato i natali a campioni del calibro di Francesco Moser, Maurizio Fondriest e Gilberto Simoni, senza dimenticare lastro nascente Daniel Oss. Trentino boasts more than 400 kilometres of cycle routes to suit all abilities. In most cases they run along the valley floor, in natural surroundings, through woods or alongside rivers and torrents. Questanno, dal 21 al 24 aprile, i migliori ragazzi e ragazze dei cinque continenti giocheranno con i venti in decine di regate senza soluzione di continuit: i cadetti, ragazzini tra gli 8 e i 10 anni, e gli juniores, tra gli 11 e i 15 anni, occuperanno tutto il tratto di lago davanti a Riva sognando di tornarci quando da grandi saranno velisti affermati. Dal 21 al 27 maggio il Primiero si appresta ad ospitare un esercito di 500 atleti circa, pi altrettanti accompagnatori, in occasione dei Mondiali Studenteschi Isf di Orienteering. Ad aver vinto la tradizione della localit dellAlto Garda trentino e la capacit organizzativa dellAsd Rock Master, ideatrice dellomonima manifestazione che questanno festeggia le nozze dargento. E a questo punto lo far indossando i colori delliride. Il Mondiale di Arco introdurr una nuova disciplina, la team speed, e dar spazio anche ai diversamente abili, ospitando anche il primo Campionato del Mondo di paraclimbing. For Italy it is the first time and this is due to the tradition of the Upper Garda locality and the organising ability of the Asd Rock Master, the creator of the event of the same name that can now celebrate its twenty-fifth year with the championship colours. A new discipline will be introduced in the World Championships in Arco, the team speed. It will also host the first World Championship of Paraclimbing for the disabled. Il popolo dellarrampicata ama non solo Arco ma anche il vicinissimo lago, pur senza dedicarsi alla vela o al windsurf. Del resto anche a Torbole, a poche centinaia di metri dalla spiaggia, ci sono numerose palestre naturali di roccia. A 15 minuti di bicicletta da Riva del Garda, Arco caratterizzata da unalta rupe sopra la quale si erge un castello medievale. Un vero borgo fortificato, con due torri principali, camminamenti sotto le mura, un mulino, cantine e cisterne. La particolare posizione del paese consente di avere un microclima caldo e ventilato durante tutto lanno: questa la ragione per cui i frutteti della zona sono particolarmente rigogliosi e le piante esotiche dellArboreto e della sua villa asburgica altra nota meta turistica fioriscono anche in inverno. Skyrace, la corsa in cielo. Emozioni ad altissima quota sulle Dolomiti, con una gara dal forte contenuto adrenalinico. Questa la Dolomites Skyrace, una della maggiori a livello internazionale, tanto dura quanto spettacolare: 22 chilometri di fatica attraversando prima i boschi e poi, salendo oltre la linea della vegetazione, attaccando la nuda roccia, con tratti di corda fissa e puro alpinismo per arrivare alla Capanna Fassa a quota 3152 metri sul Piz Bo e tornare con una discesa senza fiato fino allarrivo in paese. Il calendario dello skyrunning prevede in Trentino infatti anche la Traslaval (gara di cinque giorni su e gi per la Val di Fassa), la Stava Skyrace e pure la Lavaz Skyrace, ospitate pochi chilometri prima sulle cime della Val di Fiemme. Le immagini suggestive della salita verso Forcella Pordoi durante la Dolomites Skyrace invitano migliaia di innamorati della montagna a seguire il medesimo itinerario, anche se a un ritmo cardiaco diverso. Anche questanno la Val di Sole si trasforma nella patria mondiale della mountain bike e, nei giorni 20 e 21 agosto, ospiter le prove conclusive della Coppa del Mondo. I pi grandi campioni torneranno qui anche questanno per darsi battaglia nelle tre specialit della disciplina. Il cross country una vera e propria maratona sui pedali fatta di sentieri sterrati e dure salite. Il downhill la discesa pura, su un tracciato con pendenze proibitive, praticata con biciclette speciali. Il four cross invece quella specialit in cui si gareggia uno contro laltro tra spallate e salti spettacolari. Queste tre gare sono di gran lunga il massimo spettacolo che la mtb pu offrire in Italia. All the greatest mountain bike stars will be back here to compete in all three specialties. Cross Country is a real cycling marathon through dirty trails and very hard climbs. Downhill is a sheer descent, on a track with gradients prohibitive, practiced with special bicycles. In the Four Cross race, riders run against each other pushing and taking off over spectacular jumps. These three races are by far the best show the mountain bike sport has to offer in Italy. Val di Sole, into the territory of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park and Stelvio National Park, is a valley crossing the north-western Trentino, from 730 meters high Mal up to Tonale Pass, not so far from 3500 meters high Presanella Peaks. Come ogni anno, anche questestate si rinnova la tradizione che porta alcuni dei migliori sportivi del mondo a Rovereto per il Palio Citt della Quercia, il meeting internazionale pi antico dellatletica leggera italiana in programma il 13 settembre in Vallagarina. Nelle edizioni precedenti sono passati da qui almeno una settantina di atleti che avevano vinto una medaglia doro alle Olimpiadi o ai Mondiali, da Pietro Mennea a Edwin Moses, imbattuto per anni nel 400 ostacoli. Some of the greatest athletes ever in Trentino: just like every year, this year also will renew the Rovereto tradition and the best athletes in the world will be there for the Palio Citta della Quercia, the oldest international track and field meeting in Italy scheduled for September 13th in Vallagarina. The athletes list as usual will be full of sport stars. In previous years at least seventy gold medalists in the Olympics or World Championships have been here: among others, Pietro Mennea, and Edwin Moses who has not lost a 400 hurdles race for a very long time.
