Background Gallagher and MacLachan indicate that patients who have a positive attitude toward the amputation in terms of its character-building effect improved coping abilities, financial benefits, change in attitude, or meeting new people, have significantly higher rating of their health and physical capabilities than patient who were pessimistic about the event (Carroll, 2006, pg. 72). This study was related on how coping abilities affects the patient with below the knee amputee whose have positive attitude toward amputation.
