MFA = Multifiber Agreement. The Multifiber Agreement was established in 1973 between the U.S., Canada and
several countries now part of the European Union. It set a quota system for the maximum number of products
produced in developing countries that could be legally exported to MFA member countries. These amounts were
based on historic purchasing patterns and differed from country to country.
