Demand to the Chinese Government to Stop Dam Projects and Plea to the Chinese People
1. Presently Thein Sein regime is waging fierce offensives against Kachin people and the Kachin Independence Army with the aim of implementing dam projects in Kachin State. The world is witnessing damage to Kachin people's life and property wrought by military assaults. The Chinese government should know better than the whole world about the impact of military assaults in Kachin State as multitudes of refugees are flowing into China. 2. The rivers of Burma flow from the North to the South with the Burmese people relying for millennia on Irrawaddy River which originates from Kachin State. The Chinese government today, completely disregarding Burmese people's life and property, is collaborating with Thein Sein regime to come into Burma and stop the Irrawaddy River in Kachin State, working on a number of mega-dam projects. 3. Chinese government's such act of executing dam projects with an eye only for its self-interest, in collaboration with successive anti-popular military regimes of Burma up to the present Thein Sein government amounts to an indifference toward Burmese people's lives which depends on the Irrawaddy River.

4. Therefore we activist forces on behalf of the entire Burmese people strongly demand the Chinese government to consider the interests of Burmese people and completely withdraw the dam projects being worked up inside Burma. 5. On behalf of Burmese people, we activist forces solemnly implore the Chinese people as well to take into account neighboring Burmese people's life and to call for Chinese government's termination of dam projects being built in cooperation with Thein Sein's military regime, cessation of arms exports to Burma and end to interference in Burma's internal affairs through the government.
