Were the data obtained from a survey or experiment? The data were obtained from the experiment. Follow-up procedure was done to check the validity/ wrongness of the hypothesis. b. Is the study descriptive or inferential? The study is inferential because it reached conclusions beyond the immediate data which was the patient records. The differences among the groups were noted. c. What research question was the researcher trying to answer? The researcher tries to answer if olive oil is a factor to help reduce or prevent recurrence of stroke. d. How did s/he select the cases? What population do the cases represent? The researcher selected the case from people aged 65 or older and determined their levels of olive oil use. The area of scope was limited to people how live in French cities. The population represent the moderate users of olive oil, the heavy users of olive oil, and non-users of olive oil. These cases represent the people who can have the possible chance of stroke. e. Was there a control group? How were the control subjects selected? The control group was the people who never used olive oil. The control subjects were of the same age group as the population and of the same habitat (they live in French cities) f. Are possible sources of bias mentioned? Possible source of bias may include the type of olive oil used was not mentioned(was it extra virgin or just the regular olive oil). Another is that the test is not intervened with other variables. g. If conclusions are stated, are they warranted? The researchers concluded that olive oil can reduce ischemic stroke but not hemorrhagic stroke. One researcher noted that the study was just observational and should be claimed correct or valid if the observations can withstand randomized interventions. h.
