y y y y y Islam is the largest religion in Kazakhstan, followed by Russian Orthodox. The Kazahks are Sunni Muslims, and the Russian are Russian Orthodox. Approximately 70% of the population is Muslim. Less than 25% of the population of Kazakhstan is Russian Orthodox. Other religious groups include Judaism, the Bah' Faith, Hare Krishnas, Buddhists, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

y y y y y y Traditional Kazakhs believed that separate spirits inhibited and animated the earth, sky, water , and fire as welss as domestic animals. A traditional Kazakh dinner involves a multitude appetizer on the table, followed by a soup and one or two main dishes. Many Kazakhs express interest in equestrian and horse-riding. Food, especially the lamb, retain symbolic value in Kazakh culture. Before the Russian colonization, Kazakh had a highly developed culture based on their nomadic assilimilated until much later. Livestock was central to the Kazakh s traditional lifestyle.
