Abstract Introduction Chronic kidney disorder is a worldwide public health problem.

The children suffering with chronic kidney disorder are vulnerable to not only health problems but also to the quality of life. Studies have shown that behavioural and psychological problems in children with Chronic kidney disorder, their care their caregivers and siblings, a factor that is likely to influence the overall outcome of the disease in an adverse manner. In clinical practice, however, the psychosocial aspects of care may be overlooked in the pressure to treat the disease process, unless their importance is stressed by appropriate evidence.

Methods

A cross-sectional descriptive survey was done to assess the prevalence of behavioural problem in children with chronic kidney disorder receiving health care from tertiary level hospital. Demographic data was collected by structured interview. The behavioural problems in 50 children were assessed using Child Behaviour Check List. The statistical association between sociodemographic variables of the children and the caregiver were assessed with the different categories of behavior problems in the children with chronic kidney disorder. Analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics.

Results: Presentation of behavioural problems in children with chronic kidney disorder was 60%. The affective behavioural problems were found high in children (50%), followed by anxiety and somatic problems16% each, and 14% conduct problems. No statically significant association was seen between the sociodemographic and behavioural problems.
