STATE ENERGY PROGRAM AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONVERSION REBATE PROGRAM

Applicable Vehicles Qualifying vehicles must meet all of the following conditions: 1) Be a car or light duty truck, including minivan, sports utility vehicle, or pickup truck, currently registered in the State of Florida with 4 wheels and a curb weight between 1,200 pounds and 5,800 pounds. 2) Be highway-capable, which means capable of maintaining a sustained top speed of at least 60 miles per hour. 3) Be crash-tested and certified as being in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305 for Electric Powered Vehicles. Conversion Kits Only conversion kits qualified by the FECC shall be eligible for rebate. In addition, the conversion kit must be installed at a qualified kit manufacturers authorized installation facility in this State, as certified by the qualifying kit manufacturer. The conversion kit must be a vehicle and model-specific aftermarket conversion kit, with a battery pack capacity of at least 4 kilowatt-hours, calculated at the battery manufacturers 1-hour discharge rate at 25 degrees centigrade, as specified by the battery manufacturer. Conversion kits must meet at least one of the following two requirements: 1) The conversion kit must meet the emissions certifications standards of either the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the California Air Resources Board for aftermarket conversions of hybrid electric vehicles to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Documentation must be provided to the FECC; or 2) The conversion kit must be permitted for retail sale and installation in the State of California by the California Air Resources Board under an antitampering or other exemption by Executive Order of the California Air Resources Board. Documentation must be provided to the FECC.
