ABSTRACT

The Internet, though considered as a great source for convenient and fast
information access, currently suffers from information overload problem. Users are facing with
increasing difficulties to obtain information they need. As a result, this paper presents a new system
called ABDUL (Artificial BudDy U Love) which integrates various services through Windows Live
Messenger - one of the most popular instant messaging programs in Thailand. Our system provides
language related technology services such as electronic dictionary, automatic sentence translation, and
Web search. In addition, ABDUL allows users to use natural language to interact with the system as if
they are chatting with their friends.
