Design and Implementation of Monitoring System for Water Flow costs in shipbuilding Using LabVIEW

In this paper it is presented the real time monitoring system of water consumption in shipbuilding which is designed with LabVIEW. Water consumption in shipbuilding has been measured with 32 flow sensor. Sensors give pulse signal (l/h, 10 l/h, 100l/h, 1000 l/h could be 1 pulse) and this signal are wired with low cost card NI-PCI6510. Customer ordered system which can give momentary information about flow on each position (with flow sensor) whenever those sensors cant give this information They are giving pulse when one quantity of water pass through it. In night period, when flow decrease to very small valu es (cca 0) software that was done in Lab View recognize this situation and set flow through this sensor to 0. Otherwise SW calculate right flow from time between pulses. Data of consumption are storing to HD and they could be seen in tables or charts. This solution is very effective and low cost. It save costs for water and ROI is app. 1 year for whole system.
