The Water Cycle.

The story of each raindrop.

The Sea
The Earth has massive oceans that store the majority of our water At sea, the sun heats the top layer of the waterwater- it warms up and begins to evaporate. Wind also speeds up evaporation.

The atmosphere
The water vapour rises high into the air, where it begins to cool down. It condenses on small particles of dust. The dust and water droplets form clouds, which are blown towards the land.

Inland
The clouds gain more and more water droplets, and get even cooler as they hit hills and mountains. When the cloud is full up with water, it begins to rain. If it is really cold the rain can form snow.

What happens to the water?

Some water drains into rivers and streams. Some water sinks through the soil and rock to become groundwater. Some water is used by plants and animals. How do plants use up water?
