A REWRITTEN TALE: REALIZING THE

POTENTIAL OF YOUR WORDS


(Short Story, Narrative and Poetry)

This is an introductory workshop geared toward novice story-


tellers. Using Greek mythology and modern-poetry forms as
a basis for expressing visuals, emotion, and conflict, this is an
exploration that will be shared in a collaborative setting.

The workshop will engage participants in creative thought, artistic expression and criti-
cal thinking. We will work together and encourage group feedback and input on each
other’s work.

Each participant will create a rough 1st Draft “original work” (up to 15 pages).

Workshop activities may include:

• Dramatic activity and games (team building)


• Poetry slams and freestyle
• Aboriginal tales and legends, and world mythology as a basis for modern storytelling
• Reading short stories and short story analysis
• Writing a short story
• Presentation and feedback sessions

*Additional material and exercises will be introduced.


*Workshop packages will be provided including follow-up activities.
