CONTINGENT REWARD - CONTRACTS EXCHANGE OF REWARDS FOR EFFORT, PROMISES REWARDS FOR GOOD PERFORMANCE, RECOGNIZES ACCOMPLISHMENTS. - BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE MOTIVATED BY REWARD OR PUNISHMENT.

MANEGEMENT BY EXCEPTION

 POLICY BY WHICH MANAGEMENT DEVOTES ITS TIME INVESTIGATING ONLY THOSE SITUATIONS IN WHICH ACTUAL RESULTS DIFFER SIGNIFICANTLY FROM PLANNED RESULT.  MANAGEMENT BY EXCEPTION ( ACTIVE)  - WATCHES AND SEARCHES FOR DEVIATIONS FROM RULES AND STANDARDS, TAKES CORRECT ACTION.  MANAGEMENT BY EXCEPTION ( PASSIVE )  - INTERVENES ONLY IF STANDARD ARE NOT MEET.

- ABDICATES RESPONSIBLITIES, AVOIDS MAKING DECISIONS. - ALLOWS FOR COMPLETE PERMISSIVENESS, AND THE GROUP OFTEN LACKS DIRECTION BECAUSE THE LEADER DOES NOT HELP IN MAKING DECISION. - GIVES FOLLOWERS MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE DECISIONS, THE LACKS OF DIRECTION CAN LEAD TO ANARCHY. - ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN PLACE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.
