The Hunters Chronicles A Talk on Vampires

Everything that anyone has seen, heard, read, watched, played in a video game, and otherwise thinks and/or beliefs about vampires, is complete and utter bullshit. The best way to approach and educate on the subject of vampires is to address individually, each of their attributes, abilities, defenses, and means of dispatch. The first order of business, is what to expect visually from a vampire encounter. Vampires are generally human in appearance. Some vampires will change their bodies physically through modification to embody the classical stigma of the creature; by this I mean having pointed ears, and sharp teeth all around. Most vampires will dress in whatever attire they feel defines them as a person or creature. Expecting to see a cape and suit in a red and black color scheme is holding to the lies of culture. Do, however, expect to see red or maroon eyes, when they are in character and to bear big pointy teeth when going for the kill. Remember that it is culture and society that have displayed the vampire as a sex symbol, thusly, not all vampires are attractive and/or horny. For the unseasoned, a vampire cannot be identified until they have shown themselves to be a vampire as described above. They are masters at blending in and maintaining their distance from the general population of human society. Showing off in flashy colors and holding to the tradition that societal culture has emplaced would jeopardize their culture and way of life. Vampires are extremely powerful. It is still unsure as to the limits a vampire can maintain or achieve. One truth about vampires versus power, is that the older and purer blooded the vampire, the more fear and respect should be given. The most notable power that the

classical vampire possesses is that of shape shifting. Vampires cannot turn into bats or wolves. They can however, generally change their appearance. By this, I mean that they can change their physical features to look younger, older, fatter, slimmer, or change the amount of body hair. Few can also change their appearance completely and will look nothing like their former self. This ability to shape shift is a vampires best defense and most used for blending in should they ever be recognized, or used if they wish to maintain a persona when attacking their victims. The next strongest and most dangerous power(s) is that of psychokinesis and telepathy. The older the vampire the more they can do with these abilities and the less line-of-sight they need to perform them. A new or young vampire may need to outstretch a hand to form the bond they need to throw something and/or someone across a room; an old vampire can feel someone coming and use them as the battering ram before they can put a hand on the door. Vampires are physically stronger than the average human. Ive seen a vampire punch through a brick wall as though it were simple drywall. Their general agility and thought and reaction times are much higher than most enemies that Ive faced. When attacking a vampire, it is best to kill them first strike as they can regenerate from most injuries fairly quickly. Even the removal of limbs is a temporary limitation to their overall power. The power of a vampire comes from two things. The most obvious is the drinking of blood, and the other is from the moon. The fuller the moon, the more powerful the vampire. There are no theories as to why the moon has this affect. It is known that the moon does influence the Earth in many mysterious ways. It is highly recommended to never, under any circumstances, deal with a vampire under a full moon. The vampires drinking of blood is needed to not necessarily maintain life, but mostly to maintain their powers. Granted, if a vampire does not drink human blood through some means, they will eventually shrivel into a corpse until they do. The draining of a victims blood will not directly kill and/or turn them

into a vampire. Unless a vampire drains a victim of more blood than their body needs to maintain normal functions, the victim will recover. Should a vampire take more blood than is need, that is completely drain a victim, the deceased will remain as such. The only known methods of becoming a vampire are either through birth, or by the consumption of a vampires blood. Drinking a small amount of a vampires blood will not turn one into a vampire. I have tasted a vampires blood, and had I not, Id be dead. To become a vampire, one must consume a large amount (at least a pint, so my sources tell me) of vampire blood; this amount will initiate the change. A vampires blood is their life force and source of their power and much more powerful than human blood. Once the change starts, the best way to set it into motion and ensure its completion is the simple death (breaking of the neck) of the victim. Once a person becomes a vampire there is no turning back. As great as it sounds, I just dont have the time to be a vampire, and I get paid to kill them, so I prefer to stay where I am. Because of the immense power that vampires possess, there is little that can be done to defend against them. All the weaknesses that have been depicted in the various medias that vampires appear are for the most part fallacies. The weaknesses that have traditionally been given to vampires are done so, so that the hero of the tail can prevail over the villain. A vampires weakness to sunlight and holy relics are reflections of the battle between good and evil that is present in the stories told. The sun and the light is gives is equitable to all that is good and holy. The moon and the shadows it casts are equitable to evil and all that is undesirable. Thus, a traditional vampire would burn in the sunlight because they are not natural and have been portrayed as evil. A real vampire is weakened by the sun, but not made powerless; transversely, they are more powerful at night under the moon. The closer the sun or moon, and the fuller or more direct light it gives off, the weaker, or more powerful a vampire will be. Never fight a

vampire under a full moon, try to get them in the daylight. The use of holy relics against vampires stemmed from the view that they are spawn of Hell and that any Holy object would repel them and if touched to their skin, burn them. The power of Holy relics and blessed object on the traditional vampire had the effect they did more because of the faith of the holder, rather than because of what they were. Holy relics have yet to show any physical, visible, and/or repeatable affect against real vampires. The use of wooden stakes and silver is another weakness crafted to give the hero an advantage. The use of such object as a wooden stake to the heart, or silver bullets would kill most any creature of Earth. Real life vampires are affected by the classic wolfsbane. Its unsure why the plant works, but it does inhibit their mental abilities; their physical abilities are unaffected. Wolfsbanes is usually crafted as part of some piece of jewelry and worn as a precaution by those that fear an encounter. The plant can be crafted into a very affective poison. When ingested in a large enough quantity, wolfsbane is deadly to any vampire. The dosage depends on the age, physical stature and overall health of the intended victim. If using wolfsbane to kill a vampire it is best to go all the way and over compensate. Most of the vampires that I have slain, I have done so by simply putting one bullet in their heart and one their head; granted this has been from the Redeemer. Also a blade will do when taking their head. Incapacitating and burning of a vampire will also do, as it would with any intended victim. In a final note, remember that vampires are never to be underestimated; the powers of a vampire are only revealed when they are used. Also not every vampire is a blood sucking killer, there are some that are friendly, and I would not be standing here if not for their help. Most people will never encounter or remember an encounter with a vampire so continue on with daily life and should one come by avoid them like the plague.
