THE MICROSOFT WORD 2007 ENVIRONMENT

The new interface of Microsoft Word 2007 application underwent major changes in the way commands are organized and labeled. Some parts from the older version that you will no longer see in MS Word 2007 environment are the following: Menu bar, Standard toolbar, Formatting toolbar, Drawing toolbar, and the Task Pane.

OFFICE BUTTON

When you click on this button, it activates menus for creating a new document, open an existing file, saving a file, printing a file, and many other important tasks.

QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR

This toolbar gives you easy access to frequently used commands such as Save, Undo, and Redo. It can also be customized with more commands depending on your preference.

TITLE BAR

It displays the title of the document. By default, the name is Document1. Once you save the file, you will assign the document with a new name.

RIBBON

It contains the tabs which displays command groups depending on the activity, buttons to access menus, and a dialog box launcher for additional commands. The Ribbon is used to issue a command to perform specific tasks or activity.

RULER

The ruler serves as your paper guide. You can use the ruler to easily format your document.

TEXT AREA

This is, where you type the actual text for your document. By default, when you open word, you will see a blinking vertical line in the text area called the insertion point or cursor.

SCROLL BAR
Vertical Scroll bar enables you to scroll up or down within your document window by simply clicking and dragging the bar. Horizontal Scroll bar allows you to move across your document window by simply clicking and dragging the bar.

STATUS BAR

This bar is located at the bottom of the screen which can display the current page number of the document you are working on. It also displays the number of words and columns on your document contains.
