Overview
The class objective is to provide students with the foundation of computer basics, integrate ways to solve problems, complete projects and creatively extend their abilities.
Materials
Students will be expected to keep all of their classroom assignments until the end of the school year. Although most of the work will be saved on the students profile it is suggested to back up the work on a flash drive. USB Flash drive (2-4 GB) Headphones
Goals
Align with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the students will be able to use higher-order thinking skills and digital citizenship as critical for students to learn effectively for a lifetime and live productively in our emerging global society. These areas include the ability to: Demonstrate creativity and innovation Communicate and collaborate Conduct research and use information Think critically, solve problems, and make decisions Use technology effectively and productively
Curriculum
6th Grade
Requirements
Students that do well in computer class, and any other class, do their best in all of their works, practice in and out of the classroom the skills learned and ask questions whenever in doubt. In addition students are required to: 1. 2. 3. 4. Follow classroom procedures Complete all classroom assignments, homework, projects. Satisfactorily passes all quizzes and assessments. Comes to class regularly.
Basics of Microsoft Word, Power Point, internet research skills, familiarity with Web 2.0 applications and Internet Safety.
7th Grade
Basics of Microsoft Publisher, Excel, internet research skills and familiarity with Web 2.0 applications.
8th grade
Grade
Students will be evaluated as follow: 20% 10% 20% 20% 30% Class Assignment Homework Quizzes Presentations of Learning Assessments
Basics of Photoshop and familiarity with Web 2.0 applications and internet research skills.
