OUTLINE THE DISADVANTAGES OF NUCLEAR ENERGY

I.Introduction Nuclear power produce around 12% of the world energy requiered, and produces large amounts of energy from small amounts of fuel, although with the various disadvantages of nuclear can brings many problem which are radioactive waste, terrorist target and high risks associated with accidents.

II.Body A.One of the disadvantages of nuclear is radioactive waste 1.The majority of radioactive waste is low-level waste , meaning it low levels of radioactivity per Mass or volume (The International Atomic Energy Agency, 2007)

2.Radioactive waste also can cause Transuranic waste (Department of Energy Carlsbad Field Office 2002 Jun.) 3.Uranium tailings are waste by-product materials left over from the rough processing of uraniumbearing ore

B.Another reason is, it can be terrorist target 1.Some nuclear reactions also produce plutonium in large quantities which could be used in nuclear weoponry. 2.Reason to start of war 3.Enemy will easily target the nuclear reactor when they are attacking the country.

C.One other reason is high risks associated with accidents. 1.Effect on the surrounding environment and people cause by the radiations 2.A catalysmic accident can cause widespread radiation poisoning across many countries 3.Can cause a natural disaster
