description
Over four years of planning and design came together to build a world class waterfront park on West Grand Traverse Bay (Lake Michigan). The park design includes several interpretative elements inlcuding landform grading as a representation of glacial formations that were a result of past ice ages. Wire mesh gabions filled with indigenous stone were also used for interpretation of glacial till that would be commonly found in Leelanua and Grand Traverse Counties. The parks color and material pallette were carefully selected to complement the surrounding landscape by using gray steel, concrete, and natural wood tones that would fade into the background and highlight the natural landscape that already exists along the waterfront.
