Ethical Dilemmas-Case study 2


Overview: Recently appointed the head teacher.  The school is now improving performance than before.  The attendance level required is 95% but the actual result collected showed its below target.  On discussion with the deputy he told to revise and correct the data before submission.

Choices of action: Manipulate the data and correct the data before submission.  Don t manipulate data and submit the data as collected.  Lower the standards of attendance so that none has to manipulate the data.  Punish the students with attendance lower than the required level.

Pros
The school will improve performance if it maintains the level. The school will recognized as where rules are maintained. The school can establish as a premier school in the state/town. The school will be able to keep up the performance. They will learn honesty which will make the students good individuals.

Cons
The school will loose some students if it maintains such strict code of conduct. The school will loose revenue if students leave the school. The school will not be able to keep up the performance level. A dishonest culture will imbibe with in the school which is bad for its reputation. This may also lower the admissions taken in the school.

So the decision which will more favorable keeping in mind the students ,the performance and the management will be not to manipulate the data and bring the required level of attendance to 90% and also punish the students if anybody is below that level with sever measures by this both the parties is looked upon and the performance
