TRAIT THEORY
This theory states that the traits, that an individual exhibits can predict leadership and these traits distinguish between leaders and non-leaders. Some of the Traits: Intelligence Physiological factors Emotional stability Intense inner motivational drive

Human relation attitude Art of communication Empathy Fairness Technical skills Foresight

BEHAVIORAL THEORY
According to this theory, leadership involves an interpersonal relationship between leader and subordinates in which the behavior of leader towards his subordinates constitutes the most critical role. Proper behavior

CONTINGENCY THEORIES
Fiedler contingency model The theory states that effective group performance depends on the proper match between the leader s style and the degree to which the situation gives control to the leader.

Fiedler s three contingency dimensions: Leader-member relations.- The degree of confidence, trust, and respect members have in their leader. Task structure. The degree to which the job assignments are procedurized. Position power. The degree of influence f leader such as hiring, firing, discipline, promotions, and salary increases.

HERSEY AND BLANCHARD MODEL


Situational leadership is a contingency theory that focuses on the followers. Successful leadership is achieved by selecting the right leadership style, according to the situation you are dealing with.
