Few days back in a grand ceremony at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi P Chidambaram, union minister for home affairs, Government of India, awarded the management professionals of the country for their contribution and good work done by them for the betterment of country. This has helped India to change its image in the eyes of the world and take one more step towards coming in the category of developed countries. The ceremony was the second edition of the AIMA managing India awards. Corporate personalities like Brijmohan Lal Munjal (chairman, Hero group of companies), Rajshree Birla (chairperson, Aditya Birla centre for community initiatives), N chandrasekaran (CEO & MD TCS), Chanda Kochhar (MD & CEO, ICICI bank), Raghav Bahl (founder & editor, Network 18), and Abhinav Kashyap (director, actor, writer) were awarded for their exceptional and excellent work done in their respective fields. Also famous persons like Jamshed J Irani (Director, Tata Sons Ltd), Pawan Munjal (MD & CEO, Hero Group), Sonal Mansingh (Renowned classical dancer), D Shivkumar (MD & VP, Nokia India Pvt Ltd) and many more were present who gave awards to the winners and also the citation for the awards. Home minister said in his speech that these awards will encourage the young managers to perform better and we should also encourage the budding managers because they can face and overcome the challenges present in the corporate world today with their innovative ideas in a better and different way. All the award winners gave the credit of their success to the collective efforts of their team members & hard work of their juniors. They shared their experiences and gave motivating speeches which will work as a tonic for the youngsters and budding managers. The whole evening was singing because of applauds and shining due to the smiling faces of award winners and it ended with a brilliant performance by Bickram Ghosh, famous tabla player. In my opinion more & more such awards should be given to respect the work of present and to encourage the future.
