BUSINESS HR RESPONSIBILITIES This document outlines the human resources responsibilities and functions that generally will reside

in a Business HR. These activities may vary due to the needs of the Business Center and its customers. Recruitment and Selection Search committee consultation and assistance Affirmative action coordination and goal advocacy & advancement Recruitment transactions in online recruitment system (competitive and non-competitive); can include creating postings, placing ads, screening applicant, managing applicant status changes, and completing hiring proposals Recruitment recordkeeping Pre-interview approval Offer letter preparation/review Temporary staff and temporary employment agency hiring actions; temporary staff appointment extension request Student hiring actions Academic wage appointment extension requests Temporary staff 1039 hours limitation auditing

Employment eligibility verification and I-9 process Job and employment online tasks VISA/immigration processing and coordination with ISFS Employee job, pay and title changes Contract renewals and extensions Supervisor updates College/unit personnel file management Time reporting and leave administration Courtesy and affiliate faculty administration Volunteer worker coordination and administration Employee and job data auditing

Employee Relations

Classified employee performance evaluation administration and status tracking Unclassified PROF status tracking Promotion and tenure tracking Participation in classified employee disciplinary actions Participation in collective bargaining proposal development for classified and graduate assistant negotiations Participation in Family Medical Leave Act coordination Summer spreadsheet process administration (unclassified and graduate assistant renewals and non-renewals) Notices of appointment for fixed-term unclassified employees Strike coordination and support Participation in layoff process employee transfer and placement

Compensation

Position description development Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) review and designation Participation in classified position reclassifications Participation in position conversions (classified to unclassified) Participation in salary administration processes, including faculty salary increase recommendations, overload compensation requests, stipend requests, classified extra-meritorious increase, and IT compensation plan increases. Unemployment insurance claims coordination and response

Employee Benefits

Distribution of new employee benefits packets and other benefits information Participation in short/long term disability claims and workers compensation claims Early return-to-work program coordination (workers comp) Provide information about benefits eligibility and summer insurance options PERS/ORP retirement plan information distribution to eligible employees

Process and transaction auditing Participation in HR policy development and implementation with OHR Strategic initiative partnership and collaboration with OHR
