Press Release 1003rd Infantry Brigade inaugurates IP Hall

The 1003rd Infantry Brigade inaugurated the multipurpose hall adorned with decorative design and paintings celebrating the rich indigenous culture of different tribes in Southern Mindanao on 10 p.m., Aug. 22, Monday, at the brigade headquarters stationed in Barangay New Visayas, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte. This hall is for you. I want you to feel the celebration of our culture and your belongingness each time you come and visit this headquarters, said Col. Lysander A. Suerte, Commanding Officer of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade, as he addressed the 71 kids from the Ata-Manobo Tribe from Sitio Talos, Brgy. San Jose, Sto. Tomas and the leaders representing different tribes from various municipalities. The stage, painted with ethnic design from ceiling to walls, depict the richness of culture through artistic combination of colors predominantly used by different tribes. Two paintings for each side adorn the wall of the hall. The paintings are works of art by the students representing the schools in Davao del Norte; products of the painting contest facilitated by the brigade. Col. Suerte, who is celebrating his birthday today, prepared fun games and food for the kids from Talos Elementary School that were accompanied by teachers and elders of the Ata-Manobo tribe. Talos Elementary School recently became a recipient of a two-classroom building donation that will be implemented by the 1003 rd Infantry Brigade and constructed by the 534th Engineer Battalion. Early this morning, Col. Suerte together with the troops of the brigade celebrated mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Marlon Pates, Assistant Priest of Parish of Assumpta in Asuncion, Davao del Norte, who also blessed the hall immediately after the mass and the ribbon cutting.
