Louisiana Sheriffs endorse House Speaker Jim Tucker in his bid for Secretary of State The Louisiana Sheriffs Association announces today its official endorsement of Speaker Jim Tucker in his bid for Secretary of State. Tuckers endorsement was a unanimous resolution made by all of the sheriffs in attendance at a meeting conducted on August 17, 2011 at the Associations office. In endorsing Speaker Tucker, Michael Ranatza, executive director of the Association said, While serving in the House of Representatives, as both a Representative, and as Speaker of the House, Speaker Tucker has consistently shown his support on all issues critical to Louisiana Sheriffs. We believe Speaker Tucker will continue to be an invaluable resource and partner for Louisiana Sheriffs as Secretary of State, and we are proud to endorse his campaign. The Louisiana Sheriffs Association is a bipartisan organization, composed of Louisianas 64 sheriffs and nearly 14,000 deputy sheriffs, established to represent Louisianas chief law enforcement officers across the state. The Associations purpose is to maintain the constitutional authority of the sheriff as chief law enforcement officer, ensure the delivery of first-rate services, and to sponsor legislation that promotes the administration of criminal justice.
