Certified Anger Management Facilitators, First Responders for EQ Anger management is a psycho-educational intervention based on Emotional Intelligence Skill

enhancement. How an individual learns to express his or her anger is learned. Anger management interventions are therefore designed to unlearn old behaviors and teach new Emotional Intelligence skills. Anger management is neither counseling nor psychotherapy. Through the use of individual or small group classes, clients learn new skills for SelfAwareness, Self-Control, Social Awareness and Relationship Management. Over the last twenty years, anger management has been gaining prominence as the intervention of choice for teaching skill enhancement in Emotional Intelligence/Self-Control. Anger Management is not just for managing anger. It may be more helpful to conceptualize anger management as Emotional Intelligence skill enhancement in a wide range of areas designed for improving intra and interpersonal relationships. Therefore, the Certified Anger Management Facilitator may be seen as a first responder whose aim is to avert or prevent the escalation of any person-directed aggression, anger or violence. The Facilitator uses Pre and Post Tests to determine the areas in which the client scores in the deficit range of skills relative to self-awareness, self-control, social awareness and relationship management. All of these skills can be learned, practiced and mastered.
