I portrayed the first line of the poem I have been one acquainted with the night (1) by making

a dark background. This line creates an ominous and mysterious image which contributes to the gloomy feeling in the poem. For me the night symbolized the mans solitude and his isolation from the city. This makes it a great symbol for showing the poems theme of loneliness. The second line I have walked out in rain -- and back in rain (2) is represented by the rain drops in the background. Rain as usual represents the narrators sadness. This adds to the gloomy mood in the poem and feeling of hopelessness. The theme of loneliness is shown by the narrator who stands alone in the rain with nowhere to go. The city light (3) was shown by the 3d city in the background. In the poem the city represented a place where the narrator doesnt belong. The city was the reason for his sadness, so I make it very bright and vibrant to show how much he has lost. This symbol is great for showing how much he has lost and illustrates the sadness of this poem and his life. The loneliness in this poem is also furthered by this line by showing his isolation from the city. The line I have looked down the saddest city lane shows that the narrator has had a very difficult life. I portrayed his hardships throughout the box by covering him in a shadow and isolating him from the city. We all have our ups and downs in life so people can relate with the reader. The feeling in this line is shown through the choice of words like saddest and lane. Both give a sense of unease, which complement the gloomy feeling in the poem. The last image is a luminary clock against the sky (12). This beautiful image has lost meaning for the narrator which is shown as it proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right (13). This serene serine image shows that now all theres nothing left in narrators life and that everything has lost meaning to him. This causes sympathy from the readers and ends the poem with a dim mood. This also creates a good final image to show the theme; a man who has lost everything but the moon.
