The first Monday in September has been set aside by Americans as a rememberance of the social and economic benefits

of organized labor. In Michigan the school year starts the day after Labor Day and this is regarded as the last day of Summer. Since it is a Federal holiday, banks and Post Offices are closed. And in the Straits of Mackinaw the Governor and thousands of citizens walk across the Mackinaw Bridge.
