Relationships in Macbeth

The relationship between Macbeth and all of his friends has changed dramatically. I would have never predicted that the tragedy would end the way it did and that the relationships that Macbeth held with his closest friends would change so radically. In the case of Banquo, in the beginning they were the best of friends and traveled together and fought in the war together. Everything was good until the three witches came and prophesized Macbeths future and that he would be king and Banquos future that his son Fleance would be king. Soon after, Macbeth grew weary of Banquo and became bloodthirsty and wanted more power and ordered 3 murderers to kill Banquo and Fleance so that only he would have a chance to be king.

Another relationship that has changed dramatically is the relationship of Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth. In the beginning of the play we see that they are a happy couple and that Lady Macbeth and Macbeth have no desire for power and are not jealous of anyone or anything. However, after Lady Macbeth reads the letter that says her husband might be king, she becomes bloodthirsty with power and forces Macbeth to kill Duncan in his sleep so that they can be the King and Queen of Scotland. Also, in the end of the play, Macbeth gets obsessed over power and wants to kill Banquo without the aid of Lady Macbeth. An obvious chance in power can be seen as Macbeth, the one who originally didnt want any part of murdering, becomes power hungry and wants to kill everyone that stands in his way of becoming King.
