This story told about a friendship between two mythical creatures sura the shark and baya the crocodile. One day sura and baya were roaming the sea together, suddenly baya spotted a goat and prepares an ambush. When sura saw it he told baya to let him have the goat because he hasn't eaten for a long time and was very hungry but baya said "no! i saw it first and i am also very hungry." so they began to fight because it was a hot day after several hours on fighting they were both exhausted.

Both of them tired and hungry, sura said to baya "i'm through with all this fights over a meal!" baya replied "me too, what do you think we should do?" sura said "how if we go our own way and divide the territory, i will live in the sea and you live on the land, the beach will be our border?" baya agreed "from this day on, i shall never go to the sea again. my place is on the land. said baya. Then they seperated.

Then the day came, when sura broke the promise he made with baya, because there's not much food in the sea sura went to the land and looked for some food in the river. baya was very angry "what are you doing here? this is my place. Your place is in the sea! sura said "There is water in the river, right? so, this is also my place!" then sura and baya fought again, this time for days and was a ferocious battle until finally sura gave up and went back to the sea. the story goes that people names the place of the epic battle between the two "surabaya."
