    Maruti Suzuki India Limited a partial subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, is India's largest passenger car company, accounting for over 45% of the domestic car market. The company's headquarters are located in New Delhi. Its manufacturing facilities are facilities Gurgaon and Manesar south of Delhi. located at two

    Maruti Suzukis Gurgaon facility has an installed capacity of 350,000 units per annum. The Manesar facilities, launched in February 2007 comprise a vehicle assembly plant with a capacity of 100,000 units per year and a Diesel Engine plant with an annual capacity of 100,000 engines and transmissions.

    Maruti Suzuki offers 14 models, Maruti 800, Alto, WagonR, Estilo, A-star, Ritz, Swift, Swift DZire, SX4, Omni, Eeco, Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Kizashi.
    Nearly 75,000 people are employed directly by Maruti Suzuki and its partners.

    Introduction
    Workers demanding for a new trade union for its Manesar Plant. On June 3 workers in Manesar Plant applied for a newly formed Maruti Suzuki Employees Union(MSEU). On June 4, 3000 workers sit in strike in the Manesar Plant demanding recognition of newly formed union. Maruti Suzuki has an in-house union, Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union at its Gurgaon Plant All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) is contributing with the other unions and formed a joint action committee. On June 10 more than 2000 workers from various factories in Gurgaon participated in a solidarity demonstration in front of the Maruti-Suzuki Plant.

    Effects
    On June 10, the Haryana Government passed a prohibitory order to ban the strike and referred the matter to the local labour court. Unfazed by anti-labour measures of the govt, unions in Gurgaon planned to conduct gate meetings and a two-hour tool down strike in their factories to express solidarity with Maruti Suzuki workers. Haryana CM requested unions postpone the strike time and sought more time for negotiations. International Metalworkers Federation expresses its solidarity and calls upon the management to accept workers democratic right to a union.
