Poorly conceived project or simple bad luck?? Poor funding: Lack of proper budget estimates and sources of fund.

. Started digging in the middle of the city: lack of proper operational strategy. Proper channels for bypassing traffic

Transporting of earth and other heavy vehicles during late night hours only

Traffic could not be fully diverted: Lack of parallel roads or by-passes. City was not planned for such massive alterations Uncharted utilities: Lack of maps and plans Probable solution: small test diggings preceding actual digging Excess time required will still be far less than time wasted for continually stopping digging

Protests of shop owners: this problem should have been apprehended before the start of the project.
Instead of individual access lanes, a common access lane for several shops together Creating a huge social umbrella for employees without specifying dead lines for project completion: Strategic blunder, involved high costs

In 2009, metro extended further down south Kolkata to Garia

Most of the blunders were not repeated The system is not underground

Route following canals and other relatively non populated areas running parallel to the main road
Stations not on main road Project though extended beyond deadline (2007), it was not as slow moving as the previous one.

Thank you!!!!
