Noise from tyre squeal, dark and dingy environments and badly defined parking bays can all have an adverse effect on end user perception in car-parks. In addition to this negative impact on image, one of the most challenging issues facing owners and body corporates in the upkeep of facilities and concrete deck structures is how to prevent damage from water ingress and wear and tear from vehicular traffic. Finishes such as concrete, asphalt and even epoxies are not sufficiently robust, even over relatively short periods of time. They are prone to cracking, abrasion, damage from chemicals and from exposure to the elements. In multi-storey car-parks, the problems are exacerbated due to the inherent movement of the structure. A proven solution that will help overcome all these problems and significantly improve the appearance of car-parks is Deckshield - a trafficable, elastomeric, waterproofing system. Deckshield was first introduced in 1993 when it was used to waterproof a roof top car park in the UK. The system is now the market leader with over 2.5 million m2 applied worldwide. It is the only car-park decking product on the market with four independent test approvals including the prized BBA Certificate from the UK.
