Speed Control of Induction Motor using Fuzzy Logic PI Controller

Abstract:
Induction motor is the most used in industry because of its high robustness, reliability, low cost, high efficiency and good self starting capability. In spite of this popularity, the induction motor has two inherent limitations: (1) The standard motor is not a true constant-speed machine; its full-load slip varies less than 1 % (in high-horsepower motors). (2) It is not inherently capable of providing variable-speed operation. These limitations are now solved through the use of smart motor controllers and adjustable speed controllers. Fuzzy logic has met a growing interest in many motor control applications due to its non-Iinearities handling features and independence of the plant modeling. The fuzzy controller (FLC) relies on a set of linguistic if-then rules, like a human operator. This paper presents a rulebased Mamdani type fuzzy logic controller applied to closed loop Induction Motor model. The motor model is designed and membership functions are chosen according to the parameters of the motor model. . A conventional PI controller is compared practically too fuzzy logic controller using Simulink. Name: K.Ambaresh Dept: EEE Year: IV year College: Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engg, College
