TEACHERS NOTES: Search for the verb!


Aim: This fun activity can be used to consolidate past simple irregular forms, first by searching in the word searcher and then using the words to make sentences in Ex. 2. It would work well at the end of unit 7.2 as an introduction to unit 7.3. Time: 40 minutes Materials: photocopies of the worksheet for each student.

Check that all students understand how a word search works and then do the first one with them. Create some excitement by giving setting a time limit of ten minutes to see if they can find all the words in time. Answers G H S T Z D G Y B H T U M P T A E C O T

There are twelve verbs in total, and at this point students could work in pairs to create the twelve sentences. Monitor their work, and encourage students to peer correct. Elicit answers from the class.
