The intent of this procedure is to provide guidelines to carry out the tape coat ing of UG piping at site and

to ensure the proper quality control and documentat ion are maintained at site. 2.0 SCOPE:

This procedure covers the requirement of material, surface preparation, applicat ion, inspection, repairs, and handling for external corrosion protection tape co ating at site of UG pipelines using coal tar based tape coating materials. 3.0 ines. 4.0 MATERIALS 4.1 All materials brought to site for tape coating shall have suitable mark/ identification such as manufacturers name, type of material and code, batch no, date of manufacturing/expiry, self life 4.2 Manufacturers test certificates with actual results of each batch shall b e submitted to QAQC for review and approval before use of the material 4.3 The primer shall be type B as specified in AWWA C-203 section 8.0 4.4 Only qualified supervisor and applicator shall be engaged for doing tape coating works 5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 SURFACE PREPARATION 5.1.1 Pipe metal surface shall be blast cleaned to Sa2 of SIS-05-5900 or SSPC-S P-10 BY BLASTING or BY MANUAL CLEANING. This cleaning operation shall
