The Simplest Structure of a Sentence

S + tobe + Adjective or S + Verb

Subject + to be + Adjective (Simple Present Tense)


I You We They He She It am are are are is is is + beautiful + smart + wonderful + handsome + humorous + dilligent + great

Subject + to be + Adjective (Simple Past Tense)


I You We They He She It was were were were was was was + beautiful + smart + wonderful + handsome + humorous + dilligent + great

Negative and Interrogative Sentence


Negative strucure: only add the word not after to be!
Example: - He is not handsome - She was not beautiful, etc

Interrogative sentence: put to be before the subject of the sentence!


Example: not - Is he handsome? Yes, he is / No, he is not - was she beautiful? Yes, she was / No, she was

Negative and Interrogative Sentence


Negative strucure: only add the word not after do/ does/ did!
Example: - He does not like pineapple - They did not sleep all night, etc

Interrogative sentence: put do/ does/ did before the subject of the sentence!
Example: - Do you know him? Yes, I do / No, I do not - Did she like your gift? Yes, she did / No, she did not
