HOW CAN I BE AN EFFECTIVE NURSE MANAGER IN THE FUTURE?

Registered nurses provide patient care in hospitals and health-care facilities. Nurses can advance to a supervisory position and work in hospital administration directing the work of other staff nurses. The head nurse or nursing supervisor monitors the work of other nurses and ensures that patients receive proper care. The nurse in a supervisor position performs nursing duties along with the additional administrative. The head nurse coordinates the activities of the nursing staff in patient areas. The supervising nurse is responsible for the training and scheduling of nurses in the patient area that he/she supervises. Head nurses work with department heads in other areas of the healthcare facility to provide nursing assistance and staff when needed.

Nurses are vital to the success of the medical community as a whole. They perform duties that are essential to the well-being of patients and the working efficiency of doctors. For me, head nurses are vital to the successful functioning of a medical facility's nursing unit. They perform a variety of routine and supervisory functions that affect almost every area of a unit's daily operations.

Head nurses act as the supervisors of a facility's nursing staff. They allocate duties and evaluate the performance of other nurses. They also train any newly hired nurses. Head nurses also work directly with patients. They ensure that patients' conditions remain stable and that doctors' treatment instructions have been properly carried out. Moreover, Head nurses are responsible for ensuring that adequate quantities of supplies are maintained, and for ordering new supplies when necessary. In order to successfully carry out the duties of a head nurse, an individual must be a good leader, a self-starter, observant, a good communicator and possess good people skills.
