I thought I'd pass it along here hoping some of y'all would be able to lend some support and send Mr. Hassenzahl some good wishes. Bill Decker told us a disturbing tale about former C/506th Lt Albert Hassenzahl. Al's wife Jean died last year and he sold his house and checked-in to a real nice assisted living place late last year. More recently, he moved-in to a Toledo, OH area apartment, with one of his daughters, who now controls his finances. She more-recently moved Al into a much lessexpensive and less-private nursing home, where he has been feeling lonely, depressed, despondent and forgotten. He is deliberately not eating and is going downhill rapidly. I hope some of you will send him letters or cards of support and encouragement. Also please keep him in your prayers. This brave officer joined the 506th soon after Toccoa but he made all the combat missions with C Co. including Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, Alsace, So. Germany, and Austria. Here is the current address where you can write to thank and support him (please do not delay): Mr Albert Hassenzahl c/o Parkcliffe Communities 3055 E. Plaza Blvd Northwood, OH 43619 Thank you!
