19 September 2011 Dear Parent/Carer The English Department has organised an AS War Literature day tour to the battlefields

of the Somme, France, on Tuesday 24 January 2012. This is an exciting event as it will enable the students to visit the sites and memorials of the poetry, prose and drama they are currently studying for Unit 1 of their AS. Itinerary for the day: 6:00am Pick up by coach from Enfield Civic Centre 9:15am Euro tunnel from Folkestone to Calais 11:45am Disembark in Calais and travel to the Somme battlefields Visits include: Serre Newfoundland Park Preserved Battlefield Thiepval Memorial to the Missing Ovillers and Mash Valley Lochnagar Crater Dartmoor War Cemetery Devonshire Cemetery 5:40pm Depart for Calais 8:10pm Return Eurotunnel to Folkestone 8:40pm Disembark in Folkestone 11:40pm Approximate arrival back at Enfield Civic Centre The cost of the day is 85.00, which includes coach and travel through the channel tunnel but no meals. Each student MUST HAVE THEIR OWN PASSPORT and EHIC (European Health Insurance Card replaced the old E111 and can be processed for free at: https://www.ehic.org.uk) If you wish your daughter to attend, please sign and return the permission slip below with 20.00 deposit by Friday 30th September to ensure her place. Cheques should be made payable to Enfield County School the remaining 65.00 balance is due by 15th December. Kind regards
