Licensing Agreements
The Manual for the Kit of Factor-Referenced Cognitive Test states that purchasers may obtain any number of copies from ETS at nominal cost. The authors of the manual, which was written in 1976, were not in a position to foresee that the expense associated with storing and providing multiple copies of the tests would require prohibitive charges for them or that this material could be made available in any form other than as hard copies. To meet the needs of the Kit tests, ETS has scanned the original document and has made it available here as a PDF. However, ETS still requires licensing agreements for researchers to produce the required numbers of tests from the specimen copies in the Kit as the organization continues to verify and monitor the proper use of these materials. For graduate students, the royalty is 15 cents per copy with a minimum charge of $40. For other researchers, the royalty is 30 cents per copy with a minimum charge of $55. Researchers requesting licensing agreements should specify carefully the tests to be used (full titles with code letters and numbers), the numbers of copies of each to be produced, and a brief description of the proposed use of the tests. Purchasers should identify themselves completely enough to permit judgment as to their qualification to use psychological tests. Students seeking licensing agreements or purchasing tests should include a note from their advisor assuming responsibility for the proper use of the test materials and scores. Requests for licensing agreements should be sent via e-mail to ETS Research & Development at r&dweb@ets.org.
