The RCS Special Education PAC is proud to present the nationally recognized SIBSHOPS program (http://www.siblingsupport.org/).

Sibshops is an exciting program just for brothers and sisters of children with special needs. Sibshops is being facilitated by three Rochester Community Schools licensed social workers. Sibshops are free but registration is required for planning purposes. The first session is Wednesday, October 26 from 6:00 to 7:30pm. At Sibshops, brothers and sisters will:

Meet other siblings of children with special needs Have fun Talk about their brothers and sisters with other kids who really understand Make new friends Have some more fun!

Sibshops are a celebration of the many contributions made by brothers and sisters. If you have a child who receives any level of special education services, and your other children would enjoy our Sibshops program, please register with our coordinator, Michele Brabant at m_mbrabant@sbcglobal.net. The program is being offered three times during the school year.
More Information About Sibshops: Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is for some a good thing, others a not-so-good thing, and for many, somewhere in-between. They reflect a belief that brothers and sisters have much to offer one another if they are given a chance. Sibshops are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique, off-beat, and appealing to a wide ability range), new friends, and discussion activities. The Sibshop curriculum is used throughout the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, Guatemala, Mexico, and Argentina.
