]201/‫[البقرة‬ )ِ‫عذَابَ النّار‬

َ ‫ ( َربّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدّ ْنيَا حَسَنَ ًة َوفِي الخِ َرةِ حَسَنَ ًة وَ ِقنَا‬-1

"Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is
good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!" (2/201)

]250/‫[البقرة‬ )َ‫علَى الْ َق ْومِ ا ْلكَافِرِين‬

َ ‫علَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَ َثبّتْ أَ ْقدَا َمنَا وَانصُ ْرنَا‬
َ ْ‫ ( َربّنَا أَفْ ِرغ‬-2

"Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience and make us victorious over the disbelieving
people." (2/250)

‫علَى اّلذِينَ مِن َق ْبلِنَا رَبّنَا َولَ ُتحَ ّملْنَا مَا‬

َ ُ‫ح َملْتَه‬
َ ‫عَليْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا‬
َ ْ‫ح ِمل‬
ْ َ‫ط ْأنَا رَبّنَا َولَ ت‬
َ ْ‫خذْنَا إِن نّسِينَا َأوْ أَخ‬
ِ ‫ ( َربّنَا لَ ُتؤَا‬-3
]286/‫ومِ ا ْلكَافِرِينَ) [البقرة‬ ْ ‫علَى الْ َق‬
َ ‫عنّا وَاغْ ِف ْر لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنتَ َم ْولَنَا فَانصُرْنَا‬ َ ُ‫لَ طَاقَ َة َلنَا بِ ِه وَاعْف‬

"Our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us
and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Supporter
and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (2/286)

]8/‫[آل عمران‬ )ُ‫ب لَنَا مِن ّلدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ِإنّكَ أَنتَ ا ْل َوهّاب‬
ْ َ‫ ( َربّنَا لَ تُزِغْ ُقلُوبَنَا َب ْعدَ ِإ ْذ َهدَيْ َتنَا َوه‬-4

"Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and
grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower." (3/8)

]16/‫[آل عمران‬ )ِ‫عذَابَ النّار‬

َ ‫ ( َربّنَا إِنّنَا آ َمنّا فَاغْفِ ْر لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا‬-5

"Our Lord! We have indeed believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the
punishment of the Fire." (3/16)

]38/‫[آل عمران‬ )‫سمِي ُع الدّعَاء‬

َ َ‫ك ذُرّيّةً طَيّبَةً إِنّك‬
َ ْ‫ب لِي مِن ّلدُن‬
ْ َ‫ب ه‬

"O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of
invocation." (3/38)

]53/‫[آل عمران‬ )َِ‫ت وَاتّ َبعْنَا الرّسُولَ فَاكْ ُتبْنَا َمعَ الشّا ِهدِين‬
ْ َ‫ ( َربّنَا آمَنّا بِمَا أَن َزل‬-7

"Our Lord! We believe in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger
['Iesa (Jesus)]; so write us down among those who bear witness." (3/53)

]147/‫[آل عمران‬ )َِ‫علَى الْ َق ْومِ ا ْلكَافِرِين‬

َ ‫ (ربّنَا اغْفِ ْر لَنَا ُذنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَا َفنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا َوثَبّتْ أَ ْقدَا َمنَا وانصُ ْرنَا‬-8

"Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You),
establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk." (3/147)

ٍ‫خزَيْ َت ُه وَمَا لِلظّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَار‬ ْ َ‫خلِ النّارَ فَ َقدْ أ‬ِ ْ‫عذَابَ النّارِ َربّنَا إِنّكَ مَن ُتد‬ َ ‫سبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا‬
ُ ً‫ت هَذا بَاطِل‬ َ ْ‫خلَق‬
َ ‫ ( َربّنَا مَا‬-9
ِ‫رّبّنَا إِنّنَا سَ ِمعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي لِلِيمَانِ أَنْ آمِنُواْ بِ َر ّب ُكمْ فَآمَنّا رَبّنَا فَاغْفِ ْر لَنَا ذُنُو َبنَا َوكَفّرْ عَنّا سَيّئَاتِنَا وَ َت َوفّنَا َمعَ البْرَار‬
]194-191/‫خلِفُ الْمِيعَاد ِ) [آل عمران‬ ْ ُ‫ك لَ ت‬ َ ّ‫ك َولَ تُخْزِنَا َي ْومَ الْقِيَا َمةِ إِن‬
َ ِ‫سل‬
ُ ُ‫علَى ر‬َ ‫َربّنَا وَآتِنَا مَا وَعَدتّنَا‬
"Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be
You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the
torment of the Fire. *Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have
disgraced him, and never will the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers) find any
helpers. *Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one (Muhammad p.b.u.h.)
calling to Faith: 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. *Our Lord! Forgive us
our sins and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die in the state of
righteousness along with Al-Abraar (those who are obedient to Allah and follow
strictly His Orders). *Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your
Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection, for You never break
(Your) Promise." (3/191-194)

]23/‫[العراف‬ )َ‫ظلَ ْمنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن ّلمْ َتغْفِ ْر لَنَا وَتَ ْرحَمْنَا لَ َنكُونَنّ ِمنَ الْخَاسِرِين‬
َ ‫ ( َربّنَا‬-10

"Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon
us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." (7/23)

]47/‫[العراف‬ )َ‫ج َعلْنَا َمعَ الْ َق ْومِ الظّالِمِين‬

ْ َ‫ (رَبّنَا لَ ت‬-11

"Our Lord! Place us not with the people who are Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong
doers)." (7/47)

]126/‫[العراف‬ )َ‫سلِمِين‬
ْ ُ‫علَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَ َت َوفّنَا م‬
َ ْ‫ ( َربّنَا أَفْ ِرغ‬-12

"Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." (7/126)

]129/‫[التوبة‬ )ِ‫ت َو ُهوَ رَبّ ا ْلعَرْشِ ا ْلعَظِيم‬

ُ ْ‫عَليْهِ َت َو ّكل‬
َ َ‫ي الّ ل ِإلَـهَ ِإ ّل ُهو‬

"Allah is sufficient for me. Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped
but He), in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne." (9/129)

]86-85/‫[يونس‬ )َ‫حمَتِكَ مِنَ الْ َق ْومِ ا ْلكَافِرِين‬

ْ َ‫ن وَ َنجّنَا بِر‬
َ ‫ج َعلْنَا ِفتْنَ ًة ّللْ َق ْومِ الظّالِمِي‬
ْ َ‫ ( َربّنَا لَ ت‬-14

"Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zaalimoon. And save us by Your
Mercy from the disbelieving folk." (10/85-86)

]47-‫[هود‬ )َ‫ع ْل ٌم وَِإلّ َتغْفِ ْر لِي وَ َترْحَمْنِي َأكُن مّنَ الْخَاسِرِين‬

ِ ِ‫س لِي بِه‬
َ ْ‫س َألَكَ مَا لَي‬
ْ َ‫ (رَبّ ِإنّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أ‬-15

"O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no
knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one
of the losers." (11/47)

]40-‫[إبرهيم‬ )‫ل ِة وَمِن ذُرّيّتِي رَبّنَا وَ َتقَ ّب ْل دُعَاء‬

َ ّ‫ج َعلْنِي ُمقِيمَ الص‬
ْ ‫ (رَبّ ا‬-16

"O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salaat (Iqaamat-as-Salaat), and (also)
from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation." (14/40)

]41-‫[إبرهيم‬ )ُ‫ي َو ِللْ ُمؤْمِنِينَ َي ْومَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَاب‬

ّ ‫ ( َربّنَا اغْفِ ْر لِي َو ِلوَالِ َد‬-17
"Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the
reckoning will be established." (14/41)

]80-‫[السراء‬ )‫سلْطَانًا نّصِيرًا‬

ُ َ‫جعَل لّي مِن ّلدُنك‬
ْ ‫ص ْدقٍ وَا‬
ِ َ‫جنِي مُخْ َرج‬
ْ ِ‫ص ْدقٍ وَأَخْر‬
ِ َ‫خل‬
َ ْ‫خ ْلنِي ُمد‬
ِ ْ‫ (رّبّ َأد‬-18

"My Lord! Let my entry (to the city of Al-Madinah) be good, and likewise my exit
(from the city of Makkah) be good. And grant me from You an authority to help me
(or a firm sign or a proof)." (17/80)

]10/‫[الكهف‬ )‫شدًا‬
َ َ‫ئ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْ ِرنَا ر‬
ْ ‫ ( َربّنَا آتِنَا مِن ّلدُنكَ رَحْمَ ًة َوهَ ّي‬-19

"Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the
right way!" (18/10)

]28-25/‫[طه‬ )‫حُللْ عُ ْق َدةً مّن لّسَانِي يَفْ َقهُوا َق ْولِي‬

ْ ‫صدْرِي وَيَسّ ْر لِي أَمْرِي وَا‬
َ ‫ح لِي‬
ْ ‫ (رَبّ اشْ َر‬-20

"O my Lord! Open for me my chest. * And ease my task for me. * And make loose
the knot from my tongue, that they understand my speech." (20/25-28)

]114/‫[طه‬ )‫علْمًا‬
ِ ‫ (رّبّ ِز ْدنِي‬-21

"My Lord! Increase me in knowledge." (20/114)

]87/‫[النبياء‬ )َ‫ (ل ِإلَهَ إِل أَنتَ سُ ْبحَانَكَ إِنّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظّالِمِين‬-22

"None has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah), Glorified (and Exalted) are
You. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers." (21/87)

]89/‫[النبياء‬ )َ‫خيْرُ ا ْلوَارِثِين‬

َ َ‫ب لَ َتذَ ْرنِي فَ ْردًا وَأَنت‬
ّ َ‫ (ر‬-23

"O My Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the
inheritors." (21/89)

]98-97/‫[المؤمنون‬ )ِ‫ن وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبّ أَن َيحْضُرُون‬

ِ ‫ن هَمَزَاتِ الشّيَاطِي‬
ْ ِ‫ (رّبّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ م‬-24

"My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings (suggestions) of the Shayatin
(devils). And I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they may attend (or come near)
me." (23/97-98)

]109/‫[المؤمنون‬ )َ‫خيْرُ الرّاحِمِين‬

َ َ‫حمْنَا وَأَنت‬
َ ْ‫ ( َربّنَا آمَنّا فَاغْفِ ْر َلنَا وَار‬-25

"Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us, and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of
all who show mercy!" (23/109)

]118/‫[المؤمنون‬ )َ‫حمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرّاحِمِين‬

َ ْ‫غفِ ْر وَار‬

"My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!"

When Waking Up

]2083 /4 ‫ ومسلم‬113 /11 ‫[البخاري مع الفتح‬ .‫ الحَمْـدُ لِّ الّذي َأحْـيانا َبعْـدَ ما أَماتَـنا وَإليه النّـشور‬-1

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee ahyana baAAda ma amatana wa-ilayhin-nushoor.

‘All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto Him is
the resurrection.’

]473 /5 ‫[الترمذي‬ . ‫ي روحي وََأذِنَ لي ِب ِذكْرِه‬

ّ ‫ل الذي عافاني في جَسَدي وَ َردّ عَل‬
ِ ‫ الحم ُد‬-2

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee AAafanee fee jasadee waradda AAalayya roohee wa-athina lee
bithikrih.
‘All praise is for Allah who restored to me my health and returned my soul and has
allowed me to remember Him.’

‫ ول‬، ‫ والحمْـ ُد ل‬،ِ‫ سُـبْحانَ ال‬،‫ وهوَ على ك ّل شيءٍ قدير‬،‫ لهُ المُلـكُ ولهُ الحَمـد‬،‫ ل إل َه إ ّل الّ وَحْـ َد ُه ل شَـريكَ له‬-3
.‫ وَل حَولَ وَل قوّة إلّ بالّ العليّ العظيم‬،‫إل َه إ ّل الُ والُ أكبَر‬
]144 /3 ‫ [البخاري مع الفتح‬.‫ر لي‬ ْ ‫رَبّ اغْف‬

The Prophet said : ‘Whoever awakes at night and then says:

La ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa
AAala kulli shay-in qadeer, subhanal-lah, walhamdu lillah, wala ilaha illal-lah wallahu
akbar, wala hawla wala quwwata illa billahil-AAaliyyil AAatheem.
Rabbigh-fir lee
‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without associate, to Him
belongs sovereignty and praise and He is over all things wholly capable. How perfect
Allah is, and all praise is for Allah, and none has the right to be worshipped except
Allah, Allah is the greatest and there is no power nor might except with Allah, The
Most High, The Supreme.
and then supplicates:
‘O my Lord forgive me.’ …will be forgiven’
“or he said: ‘and then asks, he will be answered.If he then performs ablution and
prays, his prayer will be accepted’.”

When Wearing a Garment

]7/47 ‫[إرواء الغليل‬ .‫ الحم ُد لِ الّذي كَساني هذا (الثّوب) وَرَزَقَنيه مِنْ غَـيـْرِ حَولٍ ِمنّي وَل قـوّة‬-

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee kasanee hatha (aththawb) warazaqaneehi min ghayri hawlin

minnee wala quwwah.
‘All Praise is for Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me,
with no power or might from myself.’

Before Entering Toilet

]1/283 ‫ ومسلم‬1/45 ‫[البخاري‬ .‫ث وَالْخَبائِث‬

ِ ْ‫سمِ ال ) اللّهـمّ ِإنّـي أَعـوذُ بِـكَ مِـنَ الْخُـب‬

(Bismil-lah) allahumma innee aAAoothu bika minal-khubthi wal-khaba-ith
‘(In the name of Allah). O Allah, I take refuge with you from all evil and evil-doers.’

After Leaving Toilet

Ghufranak
‘I ask You (Allah) for forgiveness.’

When Starting Ablution

Ashhadu an la ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, wa-ashhadu anna

Muhammadan AAabduhu warasooluh.
‘I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without
partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.’

]1/78 ‫[الترمذي‬ .‫طهّـرين‬

َ َ‫جعَـلْني مِنَ المت‬
ْ ‫جعَلنـي مِنَ التّـوّابين وَا‬
ْ ‫ اللّهـمّ ا‬-2

Allahummaj-AAalnee minat-tawwabeena wajAAalnee minal-mutatahhireen.

‘O Allah, make me of those who return to You often in repentance and make me of
those who remain clean and pure.’

]173 ‫[النسائي في عمل اليوم والليلة ص‬ .‫ك وَأَتوبُ ِإلَـيْك‬

َ ُ‫س َتغْفِر‬
ْ َ‫ن ل إِلهَ ِإلّ أَنْتَ أ‬

ْ َ‫ك اللّهـ ّم وَبِحَمدِك أ‬

Subhanakal-lahumma wabihamdika ashhadu an la ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa-

atoobu ilayk.
‘How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You, I bear witness that none has the right
to be worshipped except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn in repentance to You.’

When Leaving Home

Bismil-lah, tawakkaltu AAalal-lah, wala hawla wala quwwata illa billah.

‘In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power
except with Allah.’

Allahumma innee aAAoothu bika an adilla aw odal, aw azilla aw ozall, aw athlima aw
othlam, aw ajhala aw yujhala AAalay.
‘O Allah, I take refuge with You lest I should stray or be led astray, or slip or be
tripped, or oppress or be oppressed, or behave foolishly or be treated foolishly.’ slip:
i.e. to commit a sin unintentionally

Upon Entering Home

]4/325 ‫[أبو داود‬ .‫ وَعَلـى رَبّنـا َت َو ّكلْـنا‬،‫ َوبِسْـ ِم الِ خَـرَجْنـا‬،‫ بِسْـ ِم الِ َولَجْنـا‬-

Bismil-lahi walajna, wabismil-lahi kharajna, waAAala rabbina tawakkalna.

‘In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord
we place our trust.’

When Going to Mosque

ْ ‫ وَا‬،‫جعَـلْ في بَصَري نورا‬
ْ ‫ وَا‬،‫جعَـلْ في سَمْعي نورا‬
ْ ‫ وَا‬،‫ وَفي لِسـاني نورا‬، ‫جعَـلْ في َقلْبـي نورا‬ْ ‫ اللّهـمّ ا‬-

Allahumma ijAAal fee qalbee noora, wafee lisanee noora, wajAAal fee samAAee
noora,wajAAal fee basaree noora, wajAAal min khalfee noora, wamin amamee noora
,wajAAal min fawqee noora, wamin tahtee noora, allahumma aAAtinee noora.,
‘O Allah, place within my heart light, and upon my tongue light, and within my ears
light, and within my eyes light, and place behind me light and in front of me light and
above me light and beneath me light. O Allah, bestow upon me light.’

Upon Entering Mosque

‫ وَالصّلةُ] [وَالسّلمُ عَلى‬،‫[ بِسْـ ِم ال‬،‫شيْـطانِ الرّجـيم‬

ّ ‫سلْطـانِه القَديـم مِنَ ال‬
ُ َ‫جهِـ ِه الكَرِيـم و‬
ْ َ‫ل العَظيـم وَ ِبو‬ ِ ‫ أَعوذُ با‬-

aAAoothu billahil-AAatheem wabiwajhihil-kareem wasultanihil-qadeem minash-

shaytanir-rajeem, [bismil-lah, wassalatu] [wassalamu AAala rasoolil-lah] ,
allahumma iftah lee abwaba rahmatik.
‘I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal
authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be
upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.’

Upon Leaving Mosque

ِ‫ اللّهـمّ اعصِمْنـي مِنَ الشّيْـطان‬،‫س َألُكَ مِـنْ فَضْـلِك‬

ْ َ‫ اللّهـمّ ِإنّـي أ‬،‫ بِسمِ ال وَالصّلة وَالسّلم عَلى رَسو ِل ال‬-

Bismil-lah wassalatu wassalamu AAala rasoolil-lah, allahumma innee as-aluka min

fadlik, allahumma iAAsimnee minash-shaytanir-rajeem.
‘In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I
ask You from Your favour. O Allah, guard me from the accursed devil.’
Remembrance After Prayer

)ً‫ (ثَلثا‬. ‫ أَسْـ َتغْفِ ُر ال‬-1

]1/414 ‫[مسلم‬ . ‫ تَبا َركْتَ يا ذا الجَـل ِل وَا ِلكْـرام‬، ‫ وَمِـنْكَ السّلم‬، ‫اللّهـمّ أَنْـتَ السّل ُم‬

Astaghfirul-lah (three times)

Allahumma antas-salam waminkas-salam, tabarakta ya thal-jalali wal-ikram.
‘I ask Allah for forgiveness.’ (three times)
‘O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of
majesty and honour.’ AS-Salam: The One Who is free from all defects and
deficiencies.

La ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa

AAala kulli shayin qadeer, allahumma la maniAAa lima aAAtayt, wala muAAtiya lima
manaAAt, wala yanfaAAu thal-jaddi minkal-jad.
‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him
belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.O Allah, none
can prevent what You have willed to bestow and none can bestow what You have
willed to prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit anyone, as from You is all
wealth and majesty.’

La ilaha illal-lah, wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa

AAala kulli shayin qadeer. la hawla wala quwwata illa billah, la ilaha illal-lah, wala
naAAbudu illa iyyah, lahun-niAAmatu walahul-fadl walahuth-thana-ol- hasan, la ilaha
illal-lah mukhliseena lahud-deen walaw karihal-kafiroon.
‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him
belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. There is no
might nor power except with Allah, none has the right to be worshipped except Allah
and we worship none except Him. For Him is all favour, grace, and glorious praise.
None has the right to be worshipped except Allah and we are sincere in faith and
devotion to Him although the disbelievers detest it.’

as-aluka khayra ma fee hatha-alyawmi, wakhayra ma baAAdaho, wa-aAAoothu bika
min sharri hatha-alyawmi, washarri ma baAAdaho, rabbi aAAoothu bika minal-kasal,
wasoo-il kibar, rabbi aAAoothu bika min AAathabin fin-nar, waAAathabin fil-qabr.
‘We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allah belongs all
sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except
Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is
over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this day and the good
of what follows it and I take refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of
what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I
take refuge in You from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.’

laka biniAAmatika AAalay, wa-aboo-o bithanbee, faghfir lee fa-innahu la yaghfiruth-

‘O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You
created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best
I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I have committed. I acknowledge
Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can
forgive sin except You.’

wa-anna Muhammadan AAabduka warasooluk (four times).
‘O Allah, verily I have reached the morning and call on You, the bearers of Your
throne, Your angles, and all of Your creation to witness that You are Allah, none has
the right to be worshipped except You, alone, without partner and that Muhammad is
Your Servant and Messenger.’ (four times).

Allahumma innee as-alukal-AAafwa walAAafiyah, fid-dunya wal-akhirah, allahumma

innee as-alukal-AAafwa walAAafiyah fee deenee, wadunyaya wa-ahlee, wamalee,
allahummas-tur AAawratee, wa-amin rawAAatee, allahummah-fathnee min bayni
yaday, wamin khalfee, waAAan yameenee, waAAan shimalee, wamin fawqee, wa-
aAAoothu biAAathamatika an oghtala min tahtee.
‘O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this life and the next. O Allah, I ask
You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and
my wealth. O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay. O Allah,
preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and
from above, and I take refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.’

Allahumma AAalimal-ghaybi washshahadah, fatiras-samawati wal-ard, rabba kulli

shayin wamaleekah, ashhadu an la ilaha illa ant, aAAoothu bika min sharri nafsee
wamin sharrish-shaytani washirkih, waan aqtarifa AAala nafsee soo-an aw ajurrahu
ila muslim.
‘O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the Earth,
Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right to be
worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the
evil and shirk of the devil, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing
such upon another Muslim.’

‘O Ever Living, O Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, by Your mercy I seek
assistance, rectify for me all of my affairs and do not leave me to myself, even for
the blink of an eye.’

wa-aAAoothu bika min sharri ma feehi, washarri ma baAAdah.
‘We have reached the morning and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to Allah,
Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its triumphs and its
victories, its light and its blessings and its guidance, and I take refuge in You from
the evil of this day and the evil that follows it.’

ّ‫ رَب‬، ‫ وَأَعـوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَـ ّر هـذهِ اللّـيْل ِة وَشَرّ ما َبعْـدَهـا‬، ‫ رَبّ أسْـ َألُـكَ خَـيرَ ما في هـذ ِه اللّـ ْيلَ ِة وَخَـيرَ ما َبعْـدَهـا‬، ‫قدير‬
]4/2088 ‫ [مسلم‬. ‫ربّ أَعـوذُبِكَ مِنْ عَـذابٍ في النّـار وَعَـذابٍ في القَـبْر‬ َ ، ‫أَعـوذُبِكَ مِنَ ا ْلكَسَـ ِل وَسـوءِ ا ْلكِـبَر‬

Amsayna wa-amsal-mulku lillah walhamdu lillah la ilaha illal-lah, wahdahu la

shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeer, rabbi
as-aluka khayra ma fee hathihil-laylah, wakhayra ma baAAdaha, wa-aAAoothu bika
min sharri hathihil-laylah, washarri ma baAAdaha, rabbi aAAoothu bika minal-kasal,
wasoo-il kibar, rabbi aAAoothu bika min AAathabin fin-nar, waAAathabin fil-qabr.
‘We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all
sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except
Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is
over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good
of what follows it and I take refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of
what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I
take refuge in You from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.’

Allahumma bika amsayna, wabika asbahna, wabika nahya wabika namootu wa-
ilaykal-maseer.
‘O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the evening and by Your leave we have
reached the morning, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our return.’

ْ‫ أَعـو ُذبِكَ مِن‬، ‫طعْـت‬ َ ‫ستَـ‬

Allahumma anta rabbee la ilaha illa ant, khalaqtanee wa-ana AAabduk, wa-ana AAala
AAahdika wawaAAdika mas-tataAAt, aAAoothu bika min sharri ma sanaAAt, aboo-o
laka biniAAmatika AAalay, wa-aboo-o bithanbee, faghfir lee fa-innahu la yaghfiruth-
thunooba illa ant.
‘O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You
created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best
I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I have committed. I acknowledge
Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can
forgive sin except You.’

Allahumma innee amsaytu oshhiduk, wa-oshhidu hamalata AAarshik, wamala-ikatak,

wajameeAAa khalqik, annaka antal-lahu la ilaha illa ant, wahdaka la shareeka lak,
wa-anna Muhammadan AAabduka warasooluk (four times).
‘O Allah, verily I have reached the evening and call on You, the bearers of Your
throne, Your angles, and all of Your creation to witness that You are Allah, none has
the right to be worshipped except You, alone, without partner and that Muhammad is
Your Servant and Messenger.’ (four times.)

Allahumma ma amsa bee min niAAmatin, aw bi-ahadin min khalqik, faminka

wahdaka la shareeka lak, falakal-hamdu walakash-shukr.
‘O Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is from You alone,
without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thanks.’

Allahumma AAafinee fee badanee, allahumma AAafinee fee samAAee, allahumma

AAafinee fee basaree, la ilaha illa ant.
Allahumma innee aAAoothu bika minal-kufr, walfaqr, wa-aAAoothu bika min
AAathabil-qabr, la ilaha illa ant (three times).
‘O Allah, grant my body health, O Allah, grant my hearing health, O Allah, grant my
sight health. None has the right to be worshipped except You.’
‘O Allah, I take refuge with You from disbelief and poverty, and I take refuge with
You from the punishment of the grave. None has the right to be worshipped except
You.’ (three times)

‘Allah is Sufficient for me, none has the right to be worshipped except Him, upon Him
I rely and He is Lord of the exalted throne.’ (seven times morning and evening)

‘I take refuge in Allah’s perfect words from the evil He has created.’ (three times in

Allahumma innee as-alukal-AAafwa walAAafiyah, fid-dunya wal-akhirah, allahumma

innee as-alukal-AAafwa walAAafiyah fee deenee, wadunyaya wa-ahlee, wamalee,
allahummas-tur AAawratee, wa-amin rawAAatee, allahummah-fathnee min bayni
yaday, wamin khalfee, waAAan yameenee, waAAan shimalee, wamin fawqee, wa-
aAAoothu biAAathamatika an oghtala min tahtee.
‘O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this life and the next. O Allah, I ask
You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and
my wealth. O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay. O Allah,
preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and
from above, and I take refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.’

Allahumma AAalimal-ghaybi washshahadah, fatiras-samawati wal-ard, rabba kulli

shayin wamaleekah, ashhadu an la ilaha illa ant, aAAoothu bika min sharri nafsee
wamin sharrish-shaytani washirkih, waan aqtarifa AAala nafsee soo-an aw ajurrahu
ila muslim.
‘O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the Earth,
Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right to be
worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the
evil and shirk of the devil, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing
such upon another Muslim.’

‘In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in the
heavens and He is The All-Seeing, The All-Knowing.’(three times)

takilnee ila nafsee tarfata AAayn.
‘O Ever Living, O Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, by Your mercy I seek
assistance, rectify for me all of my affairs and do not leave me to myself, even for
the blink of an eye.’

Amsayna wa-amsal-mulku lillahi rabbil-AAalameen, allahumma innee as-aluka

khayra hathal-yawm, fat-hahu, wanasrahu, wanoorahu, wabarakatahu, wahudahu,
wa-aAAoothu bika min sharri ma feehi, washarri ma baAAdah.
‘We have reached the evening and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to Allah,
Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its triumphs and its
victories, its light and its blessings and its guidance, and I take refuge in You from
the evil of this day and the evil that follows it.’

Before Sleeping

‫حفَـظُ بِه‬
ْ َ‫س ْلتَـها فاحْفَظْـها بِمـا ت‬
َ ْ‫ وَإِنْ أَر‬، ‫ َفإِن َأمْسَـكْتَ نَفْسـي فا ْرحَـمْها‬،‫ َوبِكَ أَرْ َفعُـه‬، ‫ضعْـتُ جَنْـبي‬
َ َ‫ بِاسْمِكَ رَبّـي و‬-1
. ‫عِبـادَكَ الصّـالحـين‬

Bismika rabbee wadaAAtu janbee wabika arfaAAuh, fa-in amsakta nafsee farhamha,
wa-in arsaltaha fahfathha bima tahfathu bihi AAibadakas-saliheen.
‘In Your name my Lord, I lie down and in Your name I rise, so if You should take my
soul then have mercy upon it, and if You should return my soul then protect it in the
manner You do so with Your righteous servants.’

. ‫ وَإِنْ أَمَتّـها فَاغْفِـ ْر لَـها‬، ‫حيَيْـتَها فاحْفَظْـها‬

ْ َ‫ إِنْ أ‬، ‫خلَـقْتَ نَفْسـي وََأنْـتَ َت َوفّـاهـا لَكَ ممَـاتـها وَمَحْـياها‬َ َ‫ اللّهـمّ إِنّـك‬-2
]4/2083 ‫[مسلم‬ . ‫اللّهـمّ إِنّـي أَسْـ َألُـكَ العـافِـيَة‬

Allahumma innaka khalaqta nafsee wa-anta tawaffaha, laka mamatuha wamahyaha

in ahyaytaha fahfathha, wa-in amattaha faghfir laha. Allahumma innee as-alukal-
AAafiyah.
‘O Allah, verily You have created my soul and You shall take its life, to You belongs its
life and death. If You should keep my soul alive then protect it, and if You should
take its life then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You to grant me good health.’

Allahumma qinee AAathabaka yawma tabAAathu AAibadak.

‘O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the day Your servants are resurrected.’

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee atAAamana wasaqana, wakafana, wa-awana, fakam mimman

la kafiya lahu wala mu/wee.
‘All praise is for Allah, Who fed us and gave us drink, and Who is sufficient for us and
has sheltered us, for how many have none to suffice them or shelter them.’

(3) action, e.g. to bow or prostrate to other than Allah.

Allahumma aslamtu nafsee ilayk, wafawwadtu amree ilayk, wawajjahtu wajhee ilayk,
wa-alja/tu thahree ilayk, raghbatan warahbatan ilayk, la maljaa wala manja minka
illa ilayk, amantu bikitabikal-lathee anzalt, wabinabiyyikal-lathee arsalt.
‘O Allah, I submit my soul unto You, and I entrust my affair unto You, and I turn my
face towards You, and I totally rely on You, in hope and fear of You. Verily there is no
refuge nor safe haven from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You
have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.’
