Pos 51 Introduction to Political Science 3rd Long exam Sections A and B GENERAL DIRECTIONS Respond to each of the following

g items by constructing a cohesive and coherent essay in as clear, concise way as possible. Go straight to the point and avoid unnecessary introductions. Answer each item in a maximum of two (2) pages (excluding bibliography; all bibliographic entries should be put in a separate page). Cite pertinent theorists/authors if necessary. Each item is worth 20 points. All essays should be typewritten on a letter-sized bond paper (8.5" x 11"), singlespaced (with spaces between paragraphs), one inch (1) margin on all sides, font Times New Roman size 11. You can use either the Chicago or the MLA format for citation (just be consistent). Staple all sheets together, and there is no need to use a separate sheet as title page. Handwrite your name and email address on the upper left hand corner of the first page of your answers. Failure to follow format instructions will merit the student corresponding deduction points. Committing cheating of any kind (especially plagiarism) will merit the student an automatic F (or 0) for the whole exam. Deadline for submission at the Political Science Department is on Monday, September 19, 5PM (1700h). Make sure that your papers are stamped by the Department Secretary; papers without the stamp will be considered late. Late papers will automatically get an F (or 0). 1. Relate the ways by which behavioralism, rational choice theory, and comparative methodology afford the science in political science. 2. How do the different strands of institutionalism discuss the a) definition; b) role (in political society); c) creation; and d) evolution of institutions? Also, what are the divergences and convergences among the said strands? 3. Relate the ways by which post colonialism and feminisms, as analytical frames of political science, question and/or critique political identity in particular and politics in general. 4. How do both normative theory and interpretive theory inform the post positivist turn in the subfield of International Relations? 5. How does global politics as a subfield of political science make sense of globalization, the (nation-) state, and democratic governance?
