A trade union is a continuing long term association of employees, formed and maintained for the specific purpose of advancing and protecting the interest of members in their working relationships.  Association:- Combination of large number of worker

members from one or more occupation. Voluntary:- No legal and other pressure to join the trade union. Permanent:- Continuing or permanent body rather than a temporary or casual combination. Community of interest:- common interest and common problem Collective action:- Always act through united action of members. Sub-system:- Its character undergoes change with changes in economic , social, legal and political conditions in the country.
