Research Methods Question 7 Describe a situation where research will help you as a manager to make a good decision. Answer: As a manager, we need to know how to make a good decision wisely because our decision influences our works in organization in present and future. Here, research helps manager to make a good decision by going through the decisionmaking process. In research, it comprises a series of steps that are designed in order to find a solution for the problems that arise in the organizations. These steps including identifying the problems, gathering relevant information, analyzing the data in ways that helps decision making, and implementing the right course of action, are all facilitated by understanding business research. Knowledge of research is basically enable manager to undertake research their self in order to solve smaller or bigger problems that will be encounter in the job. For example, Dell Computer might want to know a demographic breakdown of how many and what kinds of people or companies will purchase a new model in its personal computer line. In such situation, a marketing manager may not have skill or time to obtain the information on their own and the marketing department may not be able to provide from the detailed information needed from the existing knowledge or data. Here, where the manager and the researchers will work together to define and solve the problem carefully through a formal research.
